“Those who are born with the possession of knowledge are the highest class of men. Those who learn and readily gain possession of knowledge are the next. Those who are dull and stupid, and yet manage to learn are another
class next to these. As to those who are dull and stupid and yet do not learn—they are the lowest of the people. But, Learning without thought is labor lost; thought without learning is perilous.”

Hereeeeeeeeeeeeees... Kathy’s Korner!
A doctor and a lawyer were talking at a party.
Their conversation was constantly interrupted by people describing their ailments and asking the doctor for free medical advice.
After an hour of this, the exasperated doctor asked the lawyer, “What do you do to stop people from asking you for legal advice when you’re out of the office?”
“I give it to them,” replied the lawyer, “and then I send them a bill.”
The doctor was shocked, but agreed to give it a try.
The next day, still feeling slightly guilty, the doctor prepared the bills.
When he went to place them in his mailbox, he found a bill from the lawyer.

WORD-OF-THE-WEEK
robustious \roh-BUHS-chuhs\ Boisterous; vigorous; Coarse; rough; crude. / Greetings Coalition Family!
“… as good as any white man.”
As arrogant, misapplied, misleading an oxymoron as historically possible.
Many of us have heard this phrase, meant to inspire and motivate, meant to dissolve barriers and free the mind from limitations real and imagined. But good is a term difficult to apply to the documented atrocities of the colonialists, crusaders, and purveyors of Christianity.
Some say that one of the benefits of colonization was the spread of Christianity. The same Christianity that ‘governs’ the most aggressive nations on the planet, the only nations to date to develop and employ the use of weapons of mass destruction, germ warfare and perpetual religious persecution. Even Adolph Hitler was a Christian who espoused the theory of an ‘Aryan Christ’.
But here in the u.s., birthplace of freedom and the cradle of liberty, the good brought here was the civilization of the aboriginal peoples, the gentrification of their lands and the creation of a ‘pass’ system for them to move freely across false boundaries. More good was done when they rescued and employed ignorant savages from Africa. In addition this country has been about the business of waging the ‘good wars’ for more than 2/3 of its existence. The good chemical science that has been responsible for the creation of more pestilence then it can find a cure for. The good political system is responsible for oppression around the world under the guise of spreading democracy, and the powerful economic system, admired the world over, is based on trinkets and shiny stones and is presently bankrupt.
We all like the thought of being good, but personally, I aspire to compete on a much higher level than the standards set by those who would have the world believe that they function on a higher level of spirituality to be admired by all. Ed.

Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger
New hotline helps families find free summer meals for kids
Starting this week, families in Philadelphia can call a toll-free hotline to find nearby locations that offer free summer meals for children. Operated by the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger, the hotline is 1-855-252-MEAL (6325). Families can also text “MEAL” to 84700
to receive a call back.
“During the regular school year, tens of thousands of low-income students rely on free or reduced-price meals at school,” said Carey Morgan, Coalition Executive Director.
“But when school is out and they’re not getting that food, they face higher risks of hunger and malnutrition. The Philly Summer Meals Hotline will help families fill that void, by referring them to nearby recreation centers, parks, churches and community organizations that offer free meals to kids and teens.”
Last year, more than 119,000 children in Pennsylvania received summer meals. But that’s less than one-fourth of the 553,000 low-income children who received free or reduced-priced lunch during the regular school year—a sign that many low-income children who need summer meals aren’t getting them, according to a recent report from the Food Research and Action Center. Recent budget cuts have also forced the School District of Philadelphia to reduce the number of summer programs it offers, meaning fewer students will be eating free meals in summer school this year.
Despite the change, “there are still nearly 1,000 sites serving free summer meals in Philadelphia, so there’s no reason any child should go hungry this summer,” Morgan said.
Free summer meals are available to children age 18 and under. There is no registration or income requirement at most sites.

Nelson Mandela Day announced as global day of action
Mandela Day on July 18th
is a global call to action that celebrates the idea that each individual has the power to transform the world, and the ability to make an impact.
The Mandela Day campaign message is simple: Nelson Mandela gave 67 years of his life fighting for the rights of humanity. Everyone can give 67 minutes of their time. Mandela Day is a call to action for individuals - for people everywhere - to take responsibility for changing the world into a better place, one small step at a time, just as Mandela did.

SpotLight On Our Efforts
THE FRONTAL ATTACK
by the The Nation of Islam to check the violence tearing down what is left of The National Black Community.
Rather than conduct it's Men Meeting Monday evenings, the Fruit of Islam (The Men) have mobilized in the streets in a reported "100" cities across America. The objective is to organize community wide efforts of every element in the community to clean up the so-called "up tick in violence" that haunts us. Whatever city we happen to be in, please report back if you intend to relate in some way to this important, historic initiative effort, led by Minister Louis Farrakhan, The National Representative of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad.
