MINUTE 16/07

Monthly Meeting

The minutes of the monthly meeting held on Wednesday April 11th were approved on the proposal of Councillor Niall Carberry and seconded by Councillor Tom Minogue.

MINUTE 17/07

Tribute to Val Kerr

As a mark of respect for Val Kerr, Chairman Jim Tenanty suggested the meeting be shortened.

Tribute was paid to Val Kerr by Councillor Fintan Malone, he spoke about how he gave great service to Ardee, his love for Ardee and for the Irish language. He also paid tribute to Rosie Burke, wife of Tony Burke. Councillor Tom Minogue also paid tribute to the Kerr and Burke families this was followed by Councillor Gaffney, Councillor Carberry, Councillor Hatrick and Councillor Fionnan McCoy. Chariman Jim Tenanty also paid his respects and spoke of the good politician he was.

This was followed by a minute silence.

MINUTE 18/07

Correspondence

HSE - North East Regional Hospital

Chairman Jim Tenanty read out correspondence from Monaghan County Council, giving it support for the hospital to be based in Ardee.

The chairman attended a meeting with Grant Thornton and circulated draft copy of the submission. It highlighted the ‘Golden Hour Rule’, stating that Ardee is central in the north east area and that it can be reached within one hour (except Cavan). Councillor Seamus Gaffney advised Grant Thornton that there was a lot of support from other Councils - Grant Thornton advised not to include this in the submission.

A letter from the HSE was also recalled to the members this was to advise that there is an extension by three weeks to Friday, 20th April for receipt of submissions.

Councillor Fintan Malone suggested that the letters of support should be submitted and advised that the Medical Journal had suggested Swords – It was advised that the need is to get people away from the ‘traffic area’. He requested clarification that other Councils submission were sent to HSE and that submissions not be sent with Grant Thornton submission. Chariman Jim Tenaty said it was in the interest of Ardee to take advice of Grant Thornton.

Letter received from Peter McCormack requesting copy of February minutes and letter from An Bord Pleannala, re: Monies owed by Bridget Hickey – Members were advised that Mr McCormack had been sent the information he requested.

Notice of Motion Naas Town Council

A letter was received from Naas Town Council regarding World Peace Day

Bord Bia

Details from Bord Bia about a hanging basket competition was circulated - it was agreed to send details to Tidy Towns Association.

MINUTE 19/07

Chariman Jim Tenanty invited all the members to attend a reception to welcome members of the EU Parliament, on Tuesday 17th April at 8.00pm, where a presentation would be made. Councillor Leonard Hatrick apologised as he could not attend.
