LOCAL LAW FIRM LAUNCHES NETWORK FOR CORPORATE LAWYERS
Local law firm Miller & Martin PLLC has launched the Chattanooga Corporate Counsel Network, an organization that is open to attorneys in the legal departments of corporations, associations and other private-sector organizations in the Chattanooga area. Unlike many other metropolitan areas, Chattanooga does not have a formal network where in-house counsel can socialize, exchange best practices and share information. When client feedback indicated a desire for such a network, Hugh Sharber and other Miller & Martin members decided to take actionand created the CCCN.
The goal of the Network is to provide a forum for in-house counsel to communicate and network with each other, to provide educational resources and to otherwise serve the common interests of area in-house counsel by offering programs involving timely, relevant substantive legal or business topics.
Miller & Martin will sponsor regular Network meetings beginning on June 23, 2011. Network members will have access to a secure log-in protected site that will allow them to communicate with each other, post information and provide feedback and ideas for future Network meetings.
“While talking with clients we heard from several local in-house attorneys that they would benefit from the opportunity to network with one another in a formal way. It just makes sense that we can help facilitate that for them. We will work to get them continuing legal education credit and will plan meetings that are responsive to their feedback and current issues of concern to their businesses,” said Hugh Sharber, Miller & Martin Member who, together with Travis McDonough and others in the firm, has spearheaded this effort.
