The Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) is sponsoring several events throughout the week of Halloween. The events are free and open to UW-Madison students, faculty, staff, and Union members and guests. The events include:
Pumpkin Palooza
Sunday, October 26, 1-3 pm, Eagle Heights Brown Shelter
WUD Community Service Committee members help kids with Halloween decorations and snacks and host a costume parade.
Ward for the Unsound and Demented (WUD) Haunted House
Monday October 27, 8-11 pm, Memorial Union Hoofer Lounge
Admit yourself to the Union Insane Asylum haunted house for a bone chilling night you won't want to miss! Brought to you by Hoofers and the Student Performance Committee.
Haunted Campus Walking Tour
Tuesday, October 28, 8 pm - Haunted Campus Walking Tour. Take a trek around campus and hear about all of the haunted areas. The tour will leave from the Park St. Circle and will end in the Hoofers Lounge.
"Are You Afraid of the Dark?" Ghost Story Telling
Tuesday October 28, 9 pm, Memorial Union Hoofer Office
Come share in a night filled with ghost stories that will make you to think twice before turning off the lights.
WUD Film Presents: Invasion of the Trailer Party Massacre from Beyond featuring: The Alien Factor
Friday October 31, 9 pm – 1 am, Memorial Union Play Circle
A night of horror and cheap thrills, WUD Film presents two and a half hours of the best and weirdest 35mm trailers from old sci-fi B-movies to recent horror masterpieces from 9-11:30 pm. A screening of the 1978 sci-fi cult film, The Alien Factor, will follow. A valid UW-Madison ID or Union Membership is required.
Margot and the Nuclear So and So's with opening act the Hospital Ships
Friday October 31, 8:30 pm, Der Rathskeller Memorial Union
Named after Gwyneth Paltrow's character in The Royal Tenenbaums, Margot and the Nuclear So and So's can be described as "chamber pop." This 8-piece band, with a sound parallel to The Decembrists and The Shins, will be playing an array of songs from their two recently released albums, "Animal!" and "Not Animal." A valid UW-Madison ID or Union Membership is required.
Keep Campus Boo-tiful: State Street Clean-Up
Sunday November 2, 10 am-Noon. Help campus clean up from the Halloween festivities. Register at the Morgridge Center in the Red Gym by 9:45am. Registered volunteers will receive breakfast and win prizes for finding the most outrageous and interesting objects from the weekend's festivities.
WUD is the student programming board of the Union. Comprised of 11 student-run committees and 1 club, WUD plans, promotes, and runs more than 1,000 events.
