Autry Names OctoberStudents of the Month

ENID, Okla. – Autry Technology Center has named three students as theOctoberStudents of the Month. These students were selected based on their performance in and out of the classroom as students, role models and future professionals.

Chance Miller is an adult, third-year student in the Information Technology program. He attended the IT program while in high school and graduated from Enid High School in 2017. He is now utilizing the Autry Scholarship to attend tuition-free. Miller has participated in BPA where he competed last year to earn second place on the state level and eighth at the national level.

“[Miller] is currently carrying a 4.0 average in all of his courses and also has an excellent attendance record.He has had perfect attendance for two years and is maintaining that honor this school year so far,” said Melissa Hula and Barbara Leathers, IT instructors.“He is always willing to help out in any way that is asked.”

Meagan Littlefield is a second-year student at Autry in theCulinary Arts program as well as a senior at Pond Creek-Hunter High School. Littlefield was the state champion last spring in the Oklahoma SkillsUSA Culinary Arts competition.She was also the captain of Autry’s Prostart team which placed second in the state.

“[Littlefield] is an amazing example of what CareerTech can do for students,” said Chef Tyler Whitson, Culinary Arts instructor. “She came to Autry shy and timid about culinary skills and work, but now she moves and works with confidence in the kitchen on a daily basis.Each day she is given tasks to do and completes them without fail.”

Cody Collom is a first-year student at Autry in the Radiography program.Prior to coming to Autry, Collom graduated from Shidler High School and earned his Associates Degree in Equine Science from Redlands Community College. A lifelong rancher, Collom wanted to pursue a career to provide financial stability for his family.

“[Collom] always has a positive and pleasant attitude,” said Michelle Noble, Radiography Director. “He shows great leadership qualities.He is a person of great character and is always ready to learn new things.”

Autry Technology Center has been a part of the Enid community since 1967 and is one of 29 CareerTech schools across Oklahoma. The center has more than 25 career programs and offers a wide variety of evening and weekend short-term courses and certifications for many diverse career fields.Autry serves nearly 16,000 individuals each year, including many area employees who receive training through the Business and Industry Services Department that works with over 500 local businesses each year.
