The Perfume Foundation Asks EU to Differentiate Industrial Perfumes with the Art of Perfumery
The Perfume Foundation asks the European Union to differentiate industrial perfumes with the Art of Perfumery if the EU decide to ban Perfume until Animal Testing will be replaced by an appropriate independant test.
The Art of Perfumery exists since more than 3000 years, it is our heritage and has nothing to do with the industrial perfumery you find in the stores today.
The ART of Perfumery exists since more than 3000 years
It has nothing to do with the INDUSTRIAL Perfumery that started flourishing at the end of the 50th. It exists more data on the beneficial power of plants and flowers that in the synthetic molecules created by human beings to compose industrial perfumes.
The Art of Perfumery should be definitely separate from the Industrial Perfumery.
The Art of Perfumery is an Heritage, our Heritage and we should protect it.
The Perfume Foundation asks the European Union to differentiate industrial perfumes with the Art of Perfumery if the EU decides to ban Perfume until Animal Testing will be replaced by an appropriate independant testing.
In 2004, The Perfume Foundation issued a visionary press release expressing its fear that perfume will be ban in Europe in 10 years time and alerted the EU commission on their responsibility in not consulting better scientific, historical, worldwide scientists data to understand the difference of toxicity between natural perfumes created by real perfumers, the real art of perfumery and industrial perfumes created by the chemical industry. The 3rd of July 2005, the EU Commission's officers confirmed to The Perfume Foundation and to Cropwatch during an official meeting that they never tested botanicals but only industrial perfumes found on the market place.
The Perfume Foundation library is open to the EU Commission to consult all data related to the Art of Perfumery and to understand that the perfumes created in the Art of Perfumery have nothing to do in the Cosmetic Directive, and are not to be considered as medical device like tooth filling or breast implant as they are not made by the chemical industry. The Perfume Foundation asks the European Commission and the Member States to finance conferences and workshop with independant scientists to understand the difference between the Art of Perfumery and Industrial Perfumery.
In the meantime it will be important and safer for consumers who want natural product to be informed on the way to read labelling as most of the products on the market are certified bio or natural but have a list of chemical ingredients in their labelling! Chemical molecules note on the packaging of most perfumes sold in the EU don’t mean "listing of ingredient composing perfume" but "chemical molecules that could be allergen".
If a product contains petroleum chemicals it is not a natural perfume.
The flowers one SEES in advertisements, will probably not be the basis for the actual SCENT of your perfume as most perfumes on the market are industrial perfumes, synthetic copies of flower's scents.

This sentence should be put on all industrial perfumes waiting for them to be tested
CAUTION: When inhaling / breathing in a perfume or fragrance your brain, lungs, blood stream and internal organs will absorb the ingredients and scent. As many perfumes and fragrances are using synthetic compounds and not being properly tested you could be subject to causing headaches, allergies or even genetic disorders and cancers.
