Brooklyn Park Native Earns Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy From Midwestern University

Downers Grove, Illinois (August 31, 2018)—Jane Doe, M.O.T., of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, has completed the Master of Occupational Therapy (M.O.T.) degree at Midwestern University’s (MWU) College of Health Sciences. An official graduation ceremony and conferring of degrees took place on the MWU Campus in Downers Grove, Illinois, on Thursday, August 30th.

Ms. Doe is the daughter of Bob and Joan Doe of Brooklyn Park. She graduated from Park Center High School in 2001 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Illinois University in 2005. While at MWU, she served as Class President and earned the Dean's Award for Academic Achievement. After graduation, she plans to work as a pediatric occupational therapist in Orland Park, IL.

Occupational therapists (O.T.s) are healthcare professionals trained to help patients to develop, retain, and regain the ability to perform important “occupations” of daily life. O.T.s may have expertise in child development, lifespan adjustment, ergonomics, assistive technology, prevention and wellness, family and caregiver education, orthotics, environmental analysis and modification, and more. Midwestern University’s Occupational Therapy Program is designed to prepare entry-level practitioners to provide expanded occupational therapy services in large, small, traditional, and nontraditional community and clinical practice settings.
