Delaware Family Law Commission to hold annual
public hearing at Legislative Hall on Feb. 16

DOVER – The Delaware Family Law Commission will hold its annual public hearing on Thursday, Feb. 16 at Legislative Hall in Dover. The hearing, which will be held in the Senate Chamber, will begin at 7 p.m. and run until 9 p.m.

The Family Law Commission, which includes Sens. Bruce Ennis, D-Smyrna and Dave Lawson, R-Marydel, was established by the General Assembly for the purpose of studying and evaluating the domestic relations laws of the state, the rules and procedures of the Family Court of the State of Delaware, and reviewing both existing and proposed domestic relations legislation and court activities.

Those wishing to speak at the hearing should limit their remarks to five minutes, but members of the public may also share written remarks with the Commission, both at the hearing or at any time. If it is found to be difficult to say everything in the time allotted, speakers may elaborate on their remarks in writing. Speakers should sign up at the beginning of the hearing with Commission staff members, who will be on hand.

In addition to the annual public hearing, the Family Law Commission also holds regular meetings during the year at which the public is welcome. The meeting schedule for the remainder of 2017 is:

• March Meeting – Thursday, March 16, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., Senate Hearing Room, 2nd floor, Legislative Hall

• April Meeting – Thursday, April 20, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., Senate Hearing Room, 2nd floor, Legislative Hall

• May Meeting – Thursday, May 18, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., Senate Hearing Room, 2nd floor, Legislative Hall

• September Meeting – Thursday, September 21, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., Senate Hearing Room, 2nd floor, Legislative Hall

• November Meeting – Thursday, November 16, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., Senate Hearing Room, 2nd floor, Legislative Hall
