Scarborough Special Weekend Events

WAXAHACHIE, TX (February 11, 2009) – Each weekend of the season brings a new Special Event to the 29thannual Scarborough Renaissance Festival. The Festival is open on Saturdays, Sundays and Memorial Day Monday from April 4 through May 25. Special events include:

April 4 & 5 -Opening Weekend-

Up to three children admitted free with a paid adult admission.

Seniors (65 & over) admitted for $11.

Selected shows and activities are signed for the hearing impaired.

April 11 & 12 -Easter – Special 15th century church service on Saturday and Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

Children’s Easter hunt with ice cream cups for prizes.

April 18 & 19 -Highland Games - featuring both Men’s and Women’s divisions along with the Texas State Caber Championship.

April 25 & 26 -Royal Ale and Wine Festival - Tastings of an assortment of beer, ale and wine,including entertainment, each day at 1 pm to 3pm.

May 2 & 3 -May Day Celebration – The Queen of the May and her Court lead guests in dancing.

May 9 & 10- Mother’s Day – Renaissance Romance

Vow renewal at Noon in the Wedding Garden on Saturday and Sunday

May 16 & 17 - Pirate Invasion Weekend – Hoist anchor and swash your buckles, it’s a yo-ho-ho of a weekend

May, 23, 24 & 25 - Final Knights – The last chance to enjoy the shows, shop for bargains and eat a turkey leg for the season

Scarborough Renaissance Festival® is a recreated 16th Century English village whose twenty-ninth season will begin on Saturday, April 4th and end on Memorial Day, May 25th. The Festival is open on Saturdays, Sundays, and Memorial Day Monday, rain or shine, from 10 AM to 7 PM. In addition to watching shows on 21 stages, visitors can interact with the King, Queen and Villagers, purchase one-of-a-kind hand-made merchandise at over 200 craft shoppes, enjoy games and rides, and sample a variety of foods, drink and ale as they enjoy the wooded 35-acre Village.

The Festival is located near Waxahachie, just 30 minutes south of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex off of I-35E at exit 399A. From Austin or Waco, follow I-35E north to Exit 399. Admission is $21.99 for adults and $8.50 for children, ages 5-12 (tax included). Children age 4 and under are admitted free. Admission includes free parking (courtesy of Allen Samuels Autoplex-Ennis), continuous entertainment and craft demonstrations.
