FLIR announces next generation Scout II thermal handheld camera

NEW high resolution display and video output options offer superior performance

WILSONVILLE, OR – January 20, 2015 - FLIR Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: FLIR), the world’s leading manufacturer of thermal cameras, announced the introduction of the Scout II thermal handheld camera for outdoor enthusiasts. Scout II now features a new high resolution LCD display for enhanced image clarity and definition. In addition, Scout II 320 models include an analog video output port facilitating external image display and recording.

The Scout II thermal imager creates images from heat, not light, and can see in total darkness, through smoke and in light fog. Scout II has a rugged, weather tight housing, and features fully automatic operation. Scout II has multiple applications for hunting, camping, hiking, and land management. With its powerful zero-lux imaging capability, hunters can evaluate potential hunting areas, track predators and recover downed game obscured by underbrush or in heavily forested areas. Outdoor enthusiasts can use Scout II to observe wildlife, provide situational awareness, or locate lost livestock.
Scout II features an ergonomic design, a simple four-button interface, digital zoom (Scout II 320 models) or image freeze-frame (Scout II 240 models), three color detection palettes, and an internal re-chargeable Li-Ion battery.

“The Scout II handheld thermal camera is an innovative and essential tool for nighttime outdoor recreation,” said Tom Surran, FLIR Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “The ability to see clearly in complete darkness with such a compact camera offers a whole new world of situational awareness and safety.”

Starting at only $1,999, Scout II is the most compact model within the FLIR Scout-Series, and one of the most affordable thermal imagers of its kind in the market. Scout II is being sold by select distributors online, and will be available in national outdoor retailers in February. For more information regarding Scout II, visit www.flir.com/scout.com.
