GOOD MORNING, PISCATAQUA BOOK PREMIERE AT STRAWBERY BANKE MUSEUM MAY 16

Portsmouth, New Hampshire (April xx, 2014) -- Local author and illustrator Wickie Rowland will launch her new historical children’s book, Good Morning, Piscataqua the sequel to Good Morning, Strawbery Banke with a special reading and book signing at Strawbery Banke Museum on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 4:00-6:00 pm. in the Tyco Visitors Center. Light refreshments will be served and a guest appearance by JD and his owners, Mary and David Krempels, is anticipated. The party is a family-friendly event coinciding with the annual Portsmouth “Hit the Decks” celebration around town. Admission to the event is free.

The adventures of Strawbery Banke's resident cat, J.D. -- begun in the storybook, Good Morning, Strawbery Banke -- continue as he travels down the beautiful Piscataqua River aboard the traditional gundalow Piscataqua. Along the way, J.D. points out the sights on the shores of New Castle and Portsmouth, New Hampshire and of Kittery, Maine.

The new book is sponsored by the Piscataqua Bank Kids’ Bank program as was Good Morning, Strawbery Banke which won First Place in the 2011 New England Museum Association Publication Award Competition. The bank has a long history of community involvement and educationalinitiatives such as the Kids' Bank and is a regular and generous supporter of Strawbery Banke’s mission as "a place to learn."

The 48-page sequel, published by the Strawbery Banke imprint of Peter R. Randall Publishing Co., is lavishly illustrated with full-page watercolor drawings of sights along the Piscataqua River including the Moffatt-Ladd House, Fort Constitution and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. The entire volume offers the chance for JD and his readers to stretch their imaginations, considering why the various landmarks hold the places in history that they do. The cover price is $12.95. (For bulk orders and sales, please call 603-422-7525.)
