PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL - December19h20th

Presider:

My friends, we continue in our pursuit of hope however and wherever we are; and so we pray for all awaiting hope throughout the world.

Lector:

For all Christians who are called to be a hopeful people …

For expectant mothers, single mothers, working mothers, mothers who have lost children …

For those who bring hope by forgiving others, especially when they have been grievously hurt …

For those who bring hope by visiting or praying for the sick and the dying, the grieving and the lonely, the imprisoned and the destitute …

For those who bring hope by bestowing dignity on all who have lost it …

For those in need of hope during this holiday season, especially those who feel they have nothing to give to those they love …

For the poor and needy among us; for all who need hope in this community; and for all the intentions in our parish book … in this time of hope and mercy, we pray,

2. For our brothers and sisters who are ill: ...... especially Kelly Shay, James Grandfield, Bill Gasgaska, Marguerite LaMarque, Roshika Fernando, Vincent Ricci, Albert Fox, Robert George, Sol Scwartz, Joseph Kearney, Ed Kolbach, Redentor Dacpano, Judy D’Agostino, Stephen Berrigan, all those wounded in terrorist attacks...... and all those wounded in the service of our country,..... that they be patient in their time of suffering and soon come to the fullness of health.... in this time of hope and mercy, we pray....

Wayne Dankert in whose memory the Advent wreath has been offered… Christa Kinzaer, Salvatore Firrincieli, Teresa Blonska, and Evelyn Piragnoli who died during the past week...... the victims of all terrorist attacks and all the victims of our present wars, that they may rest forever in the embrace of the one true God, in this time of hope and mercy, we pray....

4.And let us pause now to present our own personal petitions...(PAUSE ....count to 10)...... We are still a nation at war, let us pray for our president, our elected officials, the members of our diplomatic corps(core) and all those who serve our country in our uniformed services..... may their efforts for peace and justice be fruitful;..... together, let us raise our voices in a prayer for true and lasting peace......

Presider:

God of promise, to generations you have spoken of the one you would send to shepherd us and bring us peace. We have seen your promise fulfilled in your Son, Jesus. Grant us the courage to speak hope to those who still await his appearance in their lives. We pray in his holy name. Amen.
