Activity/ProjectName:
“New and Future Services: Report Brief
Activity/Project Description:
Prepare a Report Brief identifying the new and future services and technology which should be brought to the NANC’s attention for their information or consideration for further analysis. Essentially, the report brief will consist of topics reflecting prior FoN research and discussion to ensure this information is transferred to the NANC and available for future analysis and consideration by the NANC and FoN.
Activity/Project Relevance To FoN M&S:
Initiated by the “List of Eleven,” the FoN familiarized and upskilled to understand how new and future services and technology may impact the future of numbering. This AID Form suggests the FoN take a snap shot of its progress in one of the six study categories originally identified as the scope of the “Future Of Numbering” Report. In summary, this Report Brief would represent a portion of that larger report, which was well within the FoN’s Mission and Scope.
Suggested Plan Of Action/Activities:
Establish an outline of items for consideration using past meeting notes (completed); draft a meeting report outline identifying the sections (completed); solicit contributions to identify and then prepare text for subsections representing topics/areas of importance warranting the attention of the NANC.
Other Entity(s) Where This Is/Has Been Presented or Discussed:
During its research/discussions, the FoN has had the opportunity to review reports/studies performed (or in progress) by the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT)titled “The Future of Numbering” and the United Kingdom’s study by the Office of Communications (OFCOM) titled “Telephone Numbers - Safeguarding The Future of Numbers.”
