Can you please provide statistics on the number of failed tests at Lichfield Driving Test Centre that included a serious / dangerous speeding error over the last 18 months you have available - alongside total tests taken, and total failures.
Can you also provide a comparison table of total tests failed in the UK that included a serious / dangerous speeding error over the last 18 months you have available - alongside total tests taken, and total failures.
A monthly breakdown would be useful.

The table below shows the number of tests where a candidate failed their practical driving test due to a serious or dangerous marking for use of speed between July 2012 and December 2013. Please note that these figures exclude markings for undue hesitation under progress ‘appropriate speed’. Descriptions of both the ‘use of speed’ and ‘progress – appropriate speed’ are published on pages 25, 300 and 301of guidance issued to driving examiners which can be found at:

Information about the number of tests conducted covering the period January to March 2014 is due to be published in July and is exempt from release under section 44 (1)(a) (prohibitions on disclosure) by virtue of the Pre-release Access to Official Statistics Order 2008 which limits access to official statistics until their date of publication. As this exemption is an absolute exemption we are not required to conduct a public interest test. A copy of this exemption can be found at: As information about the number of serious and dangerous faults recorded during a test could be used to predict a trend an official statistic, it is also exempt from release under the section 44 exemption.
