Spring Term 2 Week 3 Newsletter
Focused, hardworking, happy children!!
Dear Parents / Carers,
Haworth Residential
5SL had a wonderful three day residential in Haworth last week, exploring the world of the Brontes. The weather was glorious, the fun, friendship and fellowship was outstanding and the children were an absolute credit to themselves, their parents/carers and to the school. Thanks again to the dedicated team of staff who led the residential with such enthusiasm, hard work, care and concern for the children’s welfare and enjoyment : Mr Bickley, Mrs Limbert, Mrs Lynch, Ms Holroyd, Mr Walker and Mr Dickson. It will be 5RK’s turn to head off to Haworth this coming Wednesday and the weather forecast looks dry and mild.

Goodbye to Wates
Wates will finally be departing from the school this week, with their work complete, our fantastic new building operational and the grounds of the school looking fantastic (once seeding is completed and grass begins to grow in the newly landscapes areas). All being well, within the next fortnight, we will be able to open up the school grounds to children and parents. Will parents please remind their children to stay off the newly seeded areas of earth/mud to allow the grass to grow and prevent unnecessary dirt coming into school.
We’d like to thank Mr Gary Coulton (site manager) and the whole Wates team for their commitment, hard work, sense of fun, professionalism (and willingness to adapt their plans to the school’s needs) over the past 12 months. We are immensely proud of what they have built for us and trust that they have enjoyed being part of the Gledhow family for the past year.
National Autism Awareness Week
During the week commencing Monday 27th March, we will be recognising National Autism Awareness Week at Gledhow. This will provide wonderful opportunities for the children to learn about autism through a range of assemblies and activities in the classroom and learn how to help spread the word about why it's so important to understand and accept autism. As part of that week, we will be raising awareness of autism by having a non-uniform day on the last day of term, so please help by sending your children in to school dressed either as Superheroes or in their onesies!! Get your capes, masks or onesies at the ready!! (NB – no donations required.)
Message from Mrs Sue Johnson
Mrs Sue Johnson, who retired at February half-term, has been in touch with the school and wanted to send the following message to parents/carers and friends of the school having received lots of cards, messages and presents from the school community.
I would like to express my grateful thanks to those parents and children who so generously presented me with such wonderful gifts and cards upon my retirement from Gledhow. I have had 12 happy years at Gledhow, made all the more special by the support of the parents and children. I would also like to take this opportunity of thanking my team of girls who have acted as register monitors; they know who they are and without them my job would have been much harder. I will miss you all very much and may I personally thank everyone for making my time at Gledhow such a happy one.
With fond memories of you all.
Kindest regards
SUE JOHNSON
4SB’s Class Assembly
