2. Course Evaluation

  1. Credit will be awarded for being in lab on time (3), prepared (4), and participation (3). No credit will be awarded for absences for any reason.
  2. Any student unable to take an exam at the regularly scheduled time AND is able to present an approved excuse missing the exam, MUST notify me PRIOR TO THE TIME of the absence by voice mail message or email.
  3. Any unexcused absence or tardiness exceeding 15 minutes from the start of an exam will result in a make-up during finals week. No exceptions will be made.

Week 1 (9/7/06): Palpations and Anatomy of the Shoulder

ALL of the following landmarks must be practiced:

·  SC ligament

·  Clavicular shaft

·  Acromion process

·  Coracoid Process

·  Pectoralis Major

·  Pectoralis Minor

·  Deltoid Muscle Group

·  Humeral Head

·  Greater tuberosity

·  Lesser tuberosity

·  Bicipital groove

·  Humeral shaft

·  Coracobrachialis

·  Biceps Brachii

·  Long head tendon

·  Short head tendon

·  Spine of the scapula

·  Superior angle of scapula

·  Inferior angle of scapula

·  Rotator cuff

·  Supraspinatus

·  Infraspinatus

·  Teres minor

·  Subscapularis

·  Teres major

·  Rhomboids

·  Levator scapulae

·  Trapezius

Week 2 (9/14/06): Range of Motions of the Shoulder

All of the following motions must be practiced:

§  PROM with goniometry (where appropriate)

§  AROM with goniometry (where appropriate)

§  RROM/Manual muscle testing

Glenohumeral:

·  Flexion

·  Extension

·  Abduction

·  Adduction

·  Internal rotation

·  External rotation

·  Horizontal Abduction

·  Horizontal Adduction

Scapular:

·  Upward rotation

·  Downward rotation

·  Elevation

·  Depression

·  Protraction

·  Retraction

Week 3 (9/21/06): Special Test of the Sternoclavicular, Acromioclavicular and Glenohumeral Joints

All of the following special tests must be practiced:

·  SC Glide test

·  AC Glide test

·  GH Glide test

·  AC Traction test

·  AC Compression test

·  Relocation Test

·  Anterior Apprehension test

·  Posterior Apprehension test

·  Sulcus Sign

Week 4 (9/28/06): Special Tests for Rotator Cuff Pathologies, Biceps Tendinitis, and Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

All of the following special tests must be practiced:

·  Apley’s Scratch test

·  Drop arm test

·  Empty can test

·  Hawkins-Kennedy impingement test

·  Neer impingement test

·  Yergason’s test

·  Speed’s test

·  Lundington’s test

·  Active Compression test (O’brien test)

·  Adson’s test

·  Allen test

·  Military brace position
