Job Title: Before/After School Site Lead

Summary:
The Before/After School Site Lead supervises and instructions school children; providing age appropriate activities; and assisting students with homework as may be required. They are responsible for overseeing the maintenance of an orderly, safe and pleasant atmosphere on the playground and in other designated locations by helping and supervising students during authorized before or after school programs in accordance with FUSD policy, established school procedures and Arizona Department of Health Services (DHS) regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Cleans work areas (e.g. classroom, storage, work tables, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining an orderly environment.
· Coordinates program activities (e.g. games, art, music, homework, etc.) for the purpose of addressing the individual and/or group needs of children.
· Evaluates situations (e.g. disciplinary problems, hazardous conditions, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
· Facilitates the development of After School Programs (e.g. materials, activities, events, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring quality programs and resources.
· Interacts with children in various activities (e.g. snack time, group or individual play, Homework Place, etc.) for the purpose of providing for a safe and positive learning environment.
· Maintains various records and files (e.g. enrollment, daily sign in/out log per DHS requirements, invoices, receipts, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, meeting operational requirements and ensuring accurate documentation as required.
· Participates in various meetings (e.g. staff development, staff meetings, etc.) for the purpose of sharing information and/or improving one's skill/knowledge.
· Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. attendance, statistical and operational reports, library materials, scheduling, copying, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher and/or administrator in providing necessary records/materials.
· Sets up before & after school center (e.g. opens/ closes center, games, art projects, etc.) for the purpose of providing for adequate preparation for activities.
· Other duties may be assigned.
Other Functions
· Administers first aid to children as may be required for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs.
· Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in an before/after school program; administering first aid; adhering to safety practices per FUSD policy, established school procedures and Arizona Department of Health Services (DHS) regulations.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: age appropriate activities; stages/needs of child development; safety practices and procedures;
ABILITY is required to schedule a significant number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. In working with others, independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; working as part of a team; meeting and working tactfully with students, staff and parents.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; and tracking budget expenditures. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to significantly impact the Organization's services.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions requires the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 34% sitting,33% walking and 33% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations, some hazardous conditions, and in a clean atmosphere.
Experience:
Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Education and/or Experience:
MINIMUM STATE REQUIREMENTS - CPR and First Aid trained, TB Tested, and documentation of ONE of the following: 6 months experience and a high school diploma or GED or At least 12 credit hours in early childhood, child development, or closely related field OR NAC/CDA/ or CCP credentials OR An associate’s degree or bachelor degree, from an accredited college or university in early childhood, child development, or a closely related field. All experience must be in a licensed day care facility.
Terms of Employment
· Salary based on Column E of the Classified Salary schedule as established by the Governing Board.
· PT 4-5 hours per day.
· Hours of operation: School days from 6:00 a.m. - 7:45 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
