Five additionalEU Beautiful Kosovo projects finalised in May 2013

The EU Office in Kosovo jointly with the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare and the International Organization for Migration have finalised five projects in five Kosovo municipalities through its EU Beautiful Kosovo Programme. The projects are of small and medium scale, mainly reconstruction and renovation, in municipalities of Prishtinë/Priština,Mitrovicë/Mitrovica, Malishevë/Mališevo, Partesh/Parteš and Kllokot/Klokot.
The total value of inaugurated projects is aroundEUR 618.000, mainly provided as grants by the European Union, whereas municipalities participated with around EUR 56.000. Through these 5 projects, some 394 new job opportunities were created, almost all of them registered as long term unemployed at the respective Employment Centres within the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare. In Malishevë/Mališevo, 39 beneficiaries received on the job trainings and were certified by the Vocational Training Centre in Gjakova/Djakovica and by the contractor.
The aim of EU- Beautiful Kosovo project (EU-BK) is to identify small and medium scale projects in the municipalities that would aim to create jobs, especially for the young and marginalized groups. At the same time, EU BK projects have contributed to remarkable change of the environment, turning dumpsites to beautiful parks, building promenades, playgrounds and kindergartens. In two rounds of call for proposals Kosovo municipalities have benefited ofapproximately 3.7 million Euros of EU funds.
