1.) Selecting Routines in a Workout
2.) The site has very useful information in terms of workouts. I liked how you were able to click on a link and right away see a workout that you could do immediately. However if a person is ignorant to specific exercises and set counts some of this information may be a bit difficult to decipher.
3.) One way that I might improve this site is to put pictures or animations in with the workout descriptions. This may give individuals better insight as to how the workouts and exercises should look.
4.) One major element I may add to this site would be within the workout routines. Someone looking to start going to the gym would want to know rest times between sets and between workouts.
5.) I believe that the information provided within this website is accurate. The credibility of the author of the site is of high stature. Dave Draper has written books, magazine articles, been honored as a body building hall of fame member, along with many other accomplishments.
6.) This site within the teaching field has the potential to be very useful. In terms of sports training, student athletes could use this site to construct strength-training workouts that will help them better their sports performance.
7.) Within the website there is no calculator to asses someone of any sort. Some kind of body calculator could be of use in the site however to set a kind of starting point for an individual. It is believed that this site though is geared more towards and experienced bodybuilder or athlete to further their training.
B.
1.) Health Profile
2.) This site is user friendly, with basic information about an individual you are given an overall score with added information.
3.) With what the site is out to provide, I’m not sure there is much to add in terms of technology. I like the gauges shown when you get your overall summary of your health, also the body picture shown and how it is divided into healthy portions of yourself and unhealthy portions. On the main pages of the site I would like to see more pictures to help the aesthetics of the site overall.
4.) Credible information, that is what this site needs. For me to believe in this site I would need some kind of assurance that the information I was getting on my body was coming from an approved source. As it sits, it seams that this is a site I could be running out of my room at home with made up settings as to health standards.
5.) Whether the information is accurate or not we are unsure. The site is supposedly run by an exercise physiologist however in order for me to really want to use this site I would want to have specifics about each test and more about why I received the rating or score provided.
6.) In the health education setting this could be a useful resource, I still am unsure as to whether or not this is a site specifically I would want to use in the class room setting. The idea of the site however could be very useful to provide students individual information on their current health standing.
7.) The calculators provided within the site were inaccurate as to the information produced upon entering my body specifics. I know this for fact because of another class I am taking this semester, foundations of fitness, where we worked out first hand many of the same calculations provided by this site. It also makes it more difficult that the information is in metric units. This is an element of the site that I would need changed if I was to use it in a classroom of my own.
C.
1.) One Rep
2.) The use of the site is basic and to the point, directions are provided on what to do and make it easy to perform the intended task.
3.) The information is sorted throughout the site in a constructive way. For visual purposes I might add some pictures to make the site more appealing.
4.) The largest fault I see in this site is within the calculator. When you put in weight and reps performed, for what exercise is that for. I would add specific content to make this known on the home page. Having this information missing makes the site confusing for me.
5.) The information is accurate to a certain degree, on the home page there are sources cited, however the sources cited are dated quite a bit. Having information this old takes away from the credibility of the site for me.
6.) This site could be used for me in the context of a sports training setting. Within the site are specifics and illustrations of individual muscles. This information could be very useful even in a health setting at certain times. This type of information gives students and individuals alike specifics on where muscles originate and insert, also exercises to work these muscles.
7.) The main calculator provided is interesting, I like the idea of the calculator and how it estimates the amount of weight you should be able to lift on a one rep basis. The broad concept of the calculator however makes it a bit blurry for me. I don’t know as to what exercise this is trying to target, or if it is for any exercise?
D.
1.) Fitness Level
2.) This site at first glance and use is simple and to the point. The websites goal is to estimate ones fitness level with basic information input by the user and then a summary is provided based on that information. Overall easy to use and useful for someone looking to change up a workout routine.
3.) to improve this site I would rid of most of the ads on the sidebars on the. Instead of having the ads on the side and all over the website, I would like to see more animations or pictures with a focus on fitness and physical activity.
4.) Some content I would like to see added to this website is information on the author. Having this information provided without having to click anywhere would give me a chance to get credible information on the author allowing me a level of comfort on what I am seeking. I would like to see add content removed from the site too, this keeps me from visiting websites constantly because of how jumbled it makes the site appear.
5.) From the information provided after some clicking, I believe this information to be valuable. The author is certified in personal training and has written and achieved quite a bit in the exercise realm. From what is provided on the author the information provided is such that I would use in my own personal life.
6.) This information could be used as a motivational tool for individuals in the education setting. Many haven’t a clue as to where to start in terms of exercise and this website gives good information as to what can be done to begin exercising or to spice up an experienced athletes workouts.
7.) The quiz provided on the home page of the site asked me questions about the exercise life. The input information was turned around to provide me a summary of my fitness and links to different workouts and exercises that can give me new motivation and ideas to add to my current routine. I enjoyed the information provided post quiz and may take this site into consideration for use in a real life application.
E.)
1.) Selecting a Workout Routine
2.) This site in terms of usefulness is of very low quality. The whole site consists of nothing but ads and links to different websites. The links within the site are useless as to what the website is intending, as they are based on the sale of items and memberships pertaining to fitness.
3.) I would improve this site in countless ways, pictures and illustrations are one way. Within the websites home page is nothing but links in a table. The sight needs much improvement visually for even a starting point.
4.) The site needs a mission statement as to what its intent is. Looking at the website as it sits, I have no clue what it is trying to accomplish; is the website trying to sell items and memberships or provide information on actual workout routines?
5.) There is no way to tell if this information is accurate or not. There is no description as to the author of the site, or what purpose the site is even trying to serve. Not credible in short.
6.) This is not a site that I would use in my profession. I don’t understand the intent of the website. Very poorly constructed.
7.) There are no calculators within the site.
