For the past two weeks our Weekly SERMON cover letters have looked at the subject of “I Quit!” We have asked the question what will happen if you quit. Here are the first nine points:

FIRST: You leave others wondering why you gave up on them.

SECOND:You hinder your own spiritual growth. I have watched quitters begin to die spiritually. The Cross no longer moves them as their first love begins to fade.

THIRD:You discourage others who are still serving. You matter, and your quitting can have serious adverse effects on others.

FOURTH:You lose your influence. Quitting destroys the influence you have labored to gain.

FIFTH:You encourage others to quit. Quitting can be contagious. Do not be a stumbling block.

SIXTH:You create a void. Who will fill your spot?

SEVENTH:You become vulnerable to destruction by the Devil. The things of the world will become more attractive than spiritual things.

EIGHTH:You cause people to wonder if you care.

NINTH:You stop learning when you stop serving. The way you learn all God has in store for you is by being a servant and not just a spectator.

TENTH:You become a quitter rather than a finisher. You have not yet arrived, and in fact you will not arrive until you cross the finish-line. Paul knew he had arrived when he saw the finish-line. He finished because he did not quit. Did he ever think about quitting? Perhaps! Did he have reasons to quit? Absolutely! Why didn't he? Paul knew he had not yet arrived. In II Timothy 4:5-8 Paul wrote these words to Timothy “But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. (6) For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. (7) I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: (8) Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”

ELEVENTH:You will be remembered as a quitter and not as a servant. Do you want to be just like everybody else out there who's a quitter, or do you want to be one of those people who finished? Demas was forever defined asquitting. In II Timothy 4:10 Paul wrote of him, “For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world…”Is that the way you want to be remembered? Is that the legacy you will leave your children? Will that be your testimony?

TWELTH:You miss out on the best, because the best is yet to come. Just when you think that your labor is over or even in vain, the greatest blessings are just ahead. Bus kids will grow up, and you will have had a part in their coming to the Lord and then committing their lives to Christ. You will see some go on and live a life for God. It will happen as we read in Galatians 6:9,"in due season," but only "if we faint not."

Whoever you are - parent, pastor, ministry worker, missionary, you may feel there are good reasons to quit; but I admonish you to reconsider. Don't quit; let's keep on keeping on until that day Jesus calls us home and hopefully hear those words from the Master, “Well done thou good and faithful servant.”Amen and Amen!

May God's blessing be upon you this week as you read and meditate on a message from the series “The Book of Joshua” from Joshua chapter 3,“Preparation for Blessings.”To easily access the Weekly SERMON message go to and click on the link at the bottom of this page.
