VI.Office Report: Janis R, Director

1) Donations were great last month. The best we have seen in years. Thanks to all the groups who have gone out of their way to support us as well as individuals. It enabled us to catch up with inventory and order when we needed to rather than having to wait. It is a lot less stress at least for now. With sustained support we can continue to grow and expand our programs. We are working on a new workshop to inform groups of what they can and cannot do according to the ADA regulations. Hopefully this will be in conjunction with NETA if possible. We are just not reaching our Special Needs members, so this will be an informational workshop on the misconceptions and lack of information on ADA regulations. One such example: refusing to allow a service dog and hence the member, into a meeting facility.

2)The August issue of the DIAlog is available to you. Please take some back to your group. It was not an easy job to put one together after our editor Andrea, died so suddenly last month, but we managed. There are also flyers for our events in October.

4) As most of you know we did have to raise the price of our hard back Big Book to New York prices, $9.50. We kept it at $9.00 for as long as we could, and probably a little longer than was wise. We also had to increase bronze medallions by $0.25 each and aluminum chips by $0.10 each. We have not increased these prices in years although they go up every year and the latest increase in July left us little choice.

5)We will have a table at the North Texas Roundup Friday and Saturday. We will be closed for speakers and we will not be open Sunday. Also we can get panels for workshops on Chairing, Sponsorship, etc. if you need them.

Seventh Tradition

Board Report: Ralph S. (Chair)

•Re-announced that we simply need money

•Nominations coming up in November - We are taking nominations. Whoever is nominated, minimum 2 years sobriety, 2 years residency in Dallas, have a group within Intergroup, and not paid to help alcoholics

•Contributions going up

•Need volunteers - Contact Carrie and/or Janis - it will really help out

•Thanks to everyone who helped setup, if anyone can stay and cleanup that would help a lot - we need to leave the room the way we found it.

Office Report: Janis R. (Director)

•Our individual donations are continuing to come in as well as donations from AA meetings, districts and conference donation from Big D Roundup. If our individual donations continue to build we will be in a far more solid financial situation as opposed to relying strictly on the groups that support us. There are more individuals than groups, so we are hoping this trend continues. Thanks to all of the Intergroup Reps who have joined the Faithful Fiver ranks as well.

•I hope many of you were able to attend the International Convention in Atlanta. If anyone had one of those AA special “Coincidences” while there, please send in a short version and we will start posting them on a page dedicated to just the International experience. With that many alcoholics in one place there is going to be some remarkable things happen.

•We have several group anniversaries this weekend, and the Crested Butte conference at the end of July. In August we will have the annual North Texas Roundup, so there are plenty more AA events to come. New groups are starting quite often and supporting them from the beginning is great service work and fun.

•We will be open tonight from 9 to 9:30pm. Thank you all for calling in your group orders. We don’t usually have enough staff to cover the time slot.

•We still need volunteers for the 12th step Initiative and back up for the office.

Committees Reports:

•CPC/PI – Mickey - nothing to report

•Treatment: Ralph - July 1st - Little Elm Group contacted us for free Big Books to pass out at Treatment centers. Intergroup can’t afford that anymore. I referred them to District 21 corrections and treatment reps. July 10-26 Baylor Timberlawn Garland - All background checks passed. Legacy group heading up contact and setup of meetings. I have to follow up with a couple of individuals that expressed interest chairing meetings at ABODE treatment facility. I gave them the contact info yet not sure if they have followed through.

  • June 6th- Baylor Timberlawn Garland - The Legacy Group has taken the commitment to chair meetings requested. Background check applications and mine have been forwarded.

•Jails/Judicial/CFC – Ed L. - talked about the importance of having a committee to take meetings to people who are incarcerated or people home-bound

•Nightwatch/12 Step Initiative – Josh K. - Our phones are still being answered; We have a volunteer who is tirelessly trying to fill spots; please see me if you want to help and get on list for Nightwatch.

•Special Events/Participation – Ashley A. - Fellowship Church contract in place for a $950 rate, taping options in the works which Dave R. is helping put in place, call me if you would like to volunteer
