First of all, congratulations to each of you for reaching the State semi-finals in your respective classifications! We are looking forward to an exceptionally exciting round of tournament play. The schedule for the semi-finals at Ritchie Coliseumon the campus of the University of Maryland-College Park is as follows:

1. Parking at Ritchie – a map is included with this email for your use. We will be using the non-metered “K” lots beside and behind Ritchie along with the “C” lots across the street at the Visitor Center on Route 1. NOTE: No parking before 4:30 PM on weekdays. Anyone parking at a meter in the “C” lot or elsewhere during the week must feed the meter (Saturdays are OK).
2. Please review the MPSSAA Fall Bulletin for directions, admission policies for spectators, cheerleaders and pep bands, match and award procedures. Please inform your spectators of the admission costs. Ritchie Coliseum– ages 7 & older, $8.00 (cash and credit cards will be accepted.). NOTE: The current MPSSAA coach/administrator pass admits the bearer only. Coaches actually coaching a game that day may have their immediate family admitted with prior notification of the State Tournament Director.
3. Coaches must bring 40 copies of the Media Information sheet (found at the MPSSAA website)and drop them off at the team entrance when you arrive. Keep one copy for yourself so that if you win, you can update this sheet and bring 40 more copies to the finals.
4.We will provide warm-up music, practice balls, game balls, water at the benches, and an athletic trainer on site. The trainer is for emergencies only. If you have athletes that need to be taped prior to play, you or your trainer should plan to do the taping. If our trainer is there pre-match, then they may be able to help.
5. Teams at Ritchie will have their own locker room. Have your players bring their own locks if they plan to leave any valuables in the locker room.
6. Souvenir programs will only be available at the finals for $2. Every participant receives a copy. Coaches of teams not making it to the finals may pick up their packet of programs at the finals on Saturdayat Ritchie Coliseum, if they so desire.
7.At Ritchie Coliseum, teams should enter via the team entrance (look for signs) adjacent to the loading dock at the rear of the building. Please ask your bus drivers to park their buses across the street in lot “C” of the VisitorCenter. Cheerleaders accompanied by a coach may enter at the team entrance also. All spectators at Ritchie will purchase tickets from the outside ticket windows on the side of the building and then enter via the main doors at the front of the building ONLY.
8.Ball handling is permitted prior to the official warm-up on the court, however teams must remain on their half of the court with no over-the-net play.
9. Please inform your spectators that signs of a positive nature are permitted and that they are expected to take the signs and adhesive materials down at the conclusion of the match and dispose of them properly. Balloons are permitted in the top rows of the seating areas ONLY.
10. Videotaping is permitted from the cordoned off area on the upper level balcony above the lobby. Please limit access to one adult per camera and no children.
11. Following your match, please be considerate of those teams in any subsequent match and clear your bench area as quickly as possible. Pick up any trash and then move your team through the back doors off of the court to the rear hallway. Spectators will not be allowed in this area. Players and coaches that the media requests for interviews will be escorted downstairs to the Interview area in the Martial Arts Room. Spectators should plan to meet the players when they depart from the team entrance at the rear of the building.
12.The State Volleyball Committee will again be selecting a team recipient for the annual Lesley A. Cooke Tournament Sportsmanship Award. Please review expectations for player, coach and spectator behavior with your constituents prior to your match. All help in this area is greatly appreciated!
13. Please make sure to bring 2 ball girls for your team. When you arrive, please identify these girls to one of the tournament officials.
