Make It True (30 minutes)

Before the children arrive, set up for class by gathering the 2’s / PK Worship DVD, your computer or TV to play the DVD and instruments. While the children are entering the classroom the worship DVD should be playing and a volunteer should be leading the worship. This will help engage the kids as soon as they enter the room, and will help with separation anxiety. Let one or two teachers lead worship in the room while another teacher greets parents and kids at the door. The motions for the verses are provided if you find them helpful, but we encourage you just to dance around in worship.

1. Worship (20 minutes)

Chose 3-4 songs from the Worship DVD to be played through the computer or TV located in your classroom. The words for the songs will be shown on the DVD and hand motions can be found online at

2. Snack & Video

Have children sitting in chairs near TV / Computer so that once they are settled in their seats with their snack they will be able to focus their attention on the below video while eating their snack.

Play this week’s video from “Wonder, Look at God’s Story” DVD. Be sure to click on the BIBLE ICON next to the words (and not the words themselves). This will allow you to skip the introduction skit and take you directly to the Bible Story.

3. Memory Verse

LEADER: Are you ready to practice our memory verse together? It helps us remember just how much God loves us!

For God(index finger pointing up)

so loved (give yourself a great, big hug)

the world (spread arms in a wide circle)

that He gave His only Son (cradle hands to rock baby)

John 3:16 (open your hands like a book)

“Let’s do it together. Are you ready?”

Do the verse with the kids two or three times.

4. Prayer

“Dear God, we want to love You with all our hearts. Thank You for sending Jesus to teach us how to love You. Please help us to do what You want us to do. We want to (name things on list) because we love You. Amen.”

Make It Fun (10 minutes)

1. Response Picture Cards

What You Need: Memory verse card and crayons

What You Do: Review the memory verse together before turning to the back of the memory verse card. Review what the children have learned about today’s story while they color the picture provided.

What You Say: I hope that Bible verse stays with you forever and that you always remember to [Bottom Line] Love God with all your heart. How do you love God? [Bottom Line] Love God with all your heart.”

2. Who’s Missing?

What You Need: No supplies are needed.

What You Do: Sit in a circle with the children. Tell the children to take a look at their friends while you go around the circle and have each child say their name. Ask the children to close their eyes. While their eyes are closed, choose a child to stand out of sight. When you say, “Open,” the children must look around and try to guess who’s missing. Continue playing as long as the children are interested, making sure everyone gets a turn to be the missing friend.

What You Say:

“Who was missing in our Bible story today? Our friend, Jesus! It’s true! Jesus’ family looked and looked all around. They did FINALLY find Him, but He was gone for a while!”

3. Miss Polly Wolly

What You Need: A fun hat, glasses, a scarf, long gloves—anything a fun character would wear.

What You Do: Play a fun game of “Miss Polly Wolly Says.” This is like a silly version of “Follow The Leader”. She tells the kids to make fun and silly movements, and speaks in a silly voice. Continue playing as long as the children are interested, allow older children a turn at being Miss Polly Wolly.

What You Say:

“I had fun playing with you all today. It’s time for me to go. See you later, alligator! (Take off the accessories and go back to your normal voice.) You did a great job doing what Miss Polly Wolly wanted you to do. Yay for you! (Clap.) Guess what? (Pause briefly.) Jesus did what God wanted Him to do in our Bible story today. Yay for Jesus!” (Clap.)
