FIRST HERNANDO ADULT SOCCER LEAGUE
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Age:
Photo I.D is required at registration.
During the same calendar year, all players must be 30 years of age for the Men’s League and27 years of age and above for the Women’s league.
Women’s teams may include on the roster, 4 players aged 21 – 27.
Registration:
In order to participate in any FHASL games or practices, players must be registered to FHASL and be paid in full.
Teams:
Teams shall include 14 registered players per men’s team and 13 per women’s team. Each team may include 1 pay per play player. (not to exceed the roster max).
Women’s league teams may only roster up to 6 ‘A’ rated players. (To be agreed by team captains).
Where possible, teams with less than the above amount of paid players will be given players who are on the FHASL waiting list to make a full roster.
If any team wishes to roster more than the above number of players, all players must be in agreement as it will impact playing time. (must be agreed by FHASL).
Minimum Player Requirements:
Teams must field a minimum of five (5) players, including guest players. If a team cannot field a minimum of 5 players the game will be forfeited and a 5-0 win will be recorded for the opposing team. All Players must have a valid player’s pass.
Game Length:
Games will consist of 2 periods of 40 minutes for the Men's and 2 periods of 35 minutes for the Women's league. A water break is included approximately half way through each period at the referee's discretion.
Teams are asked to arrive at Anderson Snow fields 15 minutes prior to their start time. Teams will be given 10 minutes after the scheduled start time. Any team arriving after this time will forfeit the game and 5-0 win will be recorded for the opposing team.
Mercy Rule:
If there becomes a 6 goal difference in the score line the winning team shall remove a player after each goal is scored. Players may be added back to the team after each goal to the losing team. The game will be ended if either team has only4 players remaining on the field.
Players Available List:
Players who register after the deadline will be placed on a ‘players available’ list. Teams wanting to add new players may request to roster any of these players as long as it does not exceed the maximum 14 or 13 players per team. Under certain circumstances (as deemed acceptable to FHASL. Including long term injuries, resignation, moving away etc), teams may remove a player from the team in order to register another from the ‘players available’ list; However, the removed player may not play in the league for the remainder of that season. There is a $20 fee to be placed on the waiting list and a $10 fee per game.
Guest Playing:
Guest playing will not be allowed without prior FHASL approval. To obtain approval, FHASL must receive an email or text request with the names of those players on the preceding Friday before the game. Guest players may be registered to another team or fully paid players on the player’s available list. A team may request to up to 5 guest players to make a 10 player roster. When guest playing, teams may use a player of equal rating or below.
Uniform:
All players are required to wear shin guards and appropriate soccer shoes as per the Referee’s discretion. FHASL will supply each team player with a colored, numbered jersey. Any team wishing to purchase a different team uniform must receive prior FHASL approval.
Substitutions:
With the referee’s discretion substitutions may be made throughout the game during any stoppage of play. Substitutes must be ready at the half way line.
Slide Tackling:
No slide tackling is allowed in FHASL. Any infringement will result in a direct free kick. Referees will use their discretion to decide if a slide tackle is deemed dangerous and may issue a card accordingly. A slide tackle is described as “going to ground in the proximity if another player”.
Goalkeeper kicks:
Goalkeepers may not punt the ball from their hands beyond the half way line at any time. Throwing the ball or kicking beyond half way from the ground is acceptable. Violations of this rule will result in an indirect free kick at the point where the ball crosses the center line.
Disciplinary:
Any player who is issued a red card must leave the Anderson Snow complex within 5 minutes of the ejection. (Failure to do so will result in his / her team forfeiting the game)
A Red card which is the product of two yellow cards = 1 game suspension
A Red card for a professional foul (the player is deemed to be denying a clear goal scoring opportunity by deliberately fouling a player) = 1 game suspension
A red card for swearing and/or abusive language = 1 game suspension
An Immediate red card for dangerous play = 2/3 game suspension
A Red card for swearing and/or abusive language directed towards a referee or other players = 2-3 game suspension after FHYSC adult league discussion
A Red card for violent conduct, fighting or trying to physically attack another player = season ban or possibly a lifetime ban after FHASL discussion.
A player may lodge a written appeal of a suspension to the FHASL. The appeal fee is $25.00. This fee is paid along with the written request from the player and is not refundable regardless of whether or not FHASL deems a hearing is warranted or not. If the appeal warrants a hearing, FHASL will meet with all persons involved in the incident to further discuss it. If the appeal is upheld, the fee will be returned.

Please check this web site if you have concerns about the weather. Where possible, make up games will be played on the next Wednesday night or as directed by the FHYSC Board. Practice will be canceled for that same evening.
