Week 16
Complete Performance Tasks for Second Quarter:
2.01For given objects: a) select an attribute (length, capacity, mass) to measure (use non-standard units)

PERFORMANCE TASK: Non-Standard Measurement

5.01Sort and Classify objects by two attributes.

PERFORMANCE TASK: Sorting

2.01 c Compare using appropriate language, with respect to the attribute selected

PERFORMANCE TASK: comparing and Contrast Attributes

Suggestions:
On two or three days, set up a centers during your Math time. For the Non-Standard Measurement task, have your Assistant monitor and observe. You can be assessing students on the other two performance tasks during this Math center time and “outside” play time if necessary.
Use Test Item Bank pages to review problems on the Paper/Pencil Assessment.

First Grade Math Pacing Guide

Week 17
Complete First Semester Math Assessment:
  1. Go over directions and scoring guide carefully. Be sure you have all the materials available for your students.
  2. Decide which test items you will do whole group. Arrange desks accordingly. If you have EC students who will be taking this test with you, see if the EC teacher can be with you during your “whole group” assessment time.
  3. Consider which test items could be done with ½ your class. Tell your assistant ahead of time that she will be taking out two groups of students on that day.
  4. Decide which test items you will do one-on-one or in groups of two.
  5. Give your assistant a schedule of when you will be assessing so that you will have her in the room to help monitor (except for the sections you do while ½ of your class is outside with her)
Remember: This assessment is NOT timed.
If a student’s work is “unclear” it is okay to ask that student to explain his/her answer. You can dictate that response on the student page and give credit if the oral explanation meets the scoring guide examples.
