WELCOME TO OUR GUESTS
Worship Service – 9:30 a.m.
“We are not immune to sorrow
nor should we be insensitive to the trouble of others;
yet we should count the will of God our highest joy and so be capable of knowing inner peace and joy in every circumstance.”
Quiet Time of Prayer
Song from VacationBibleSchool Mary Schwarz
*Words of Preparation read together:
God, who has given to us over and over again, makes us people who are givers to this life rather than merely takers.
Remind us that we can give only as those who imitate the life of Christ.
Help us share the joy and love of Christ to those in need.
Meditation
*Hymn of Praise God Is So Good
God is so good, God is so good,
God is so good, He’s so good to me.
He cares for me, He cares for me,
He cares for me, He’s so good to me.
He loves me so, He loves me so,
He loves me so, He’s so good to me.
InvocationThe Lord’s Prayer
Ministry Moment – VacationBibleSchoolReport and Song
Old Testament Scripture Psalm 89:1-8 unison reading
I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.
I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself.
You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David my servant, ‘I will establish your line forever and make your throne firm through all generations.’”
The heavens praise your wonders, O Lord, your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones.
For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord? Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings?
In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; he is more awesome than all who surround him.
O Lord God Almighty, who is like you?
You are mighty, O Lord, and your faithfulness surrounds you.

From the Pastoral Search Committee:
Along with all of you, we are looking forward with great anticipation to the arrival of our new pastor, Rev. Leon Oaks-Lee, and his wife Rosey. PastorLeon officially began on August 1st, and a “start-up plan” has been worked out for the first six months of his ministry with us. His priority for the first few days was meeting one-on–one with church leaders (staff, board chairpersons, etc.) and beginning visits with the homebound. After his previously scheduled trip out of the country, his first Sunday in the pulpit will be August 28th. As a way to become better acquainted with the congregation, PastorLeon will be having fellowship gatherings beginning the first of September. There will be small groups hosted in homes (probably with food involved!) Everyone is encouraged to take advantage of one of these opportunities.
Continue to pray during this time of change and excitement!
