When: SATURDAY — February 2, 2013

What: Looking back over the past year and the emergency events provides us with a unique learning opportunity. Hurricane Sandy and the subsequent damage presented the state of NJ with unprecedented emergency challenges. How the state’s animal response teams were activated, the challenges they faced, and how they rose to the occasion will be covered. In addition, we will take a look ahead at what needs to be done for future emergencies to ensure that we are even better prepared for what may lie ahead. In addition to reviewing the Hurricane, we would like to get together to talk about some of the issues facing CARTs in New Jersey. We will have panel and group discussions looking towards the future of Animal Response in New Jersey.

Who: AEWG members – a cooperative interagency committee of governmental agencies, CART leadership and volunteers, animal owners, livestock enterprises, veterinarians, non-profit animal groups, and other animal organizations interested in collaborating to develop and implement a coordinated animal emergency response plan
