FIRST AID AND CPR REQUIREMENTS

In order to meet the requirements of this class you must be present, with the textbook, a writing utensil and notebook each and every day. This class contains A LOT of work both mentally and physically in order to pass. Please be ready for this!!!!!

YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED 8 UNEXCUSED ABSENCES FROM THIS CLASS, ON THE NINTH ONE, YOU WILL LOSE CREDIT FOR THIS COURSE!!!!!!

This course is being taught from the American Heart Association guidelines.

Your grades for the class will be based on the following:

Quizzes 25%- will be in written, project or skills form

Oral Practical Examinations and Written Tests 50%-Each student will be given a face mask/shield to use during our practical exams on the manikins. Not only will the students use masks, but will also wipe down the manikin with a bleach solution prior to another student using it. Practical exams will be on CPR, Choking Victims(conscious and unconscious) and AED for the adult, child and infant. The First Aid Practical exam is on basic first-aid techniques. The skills exams will be in glove removal, epipen use, and victim evaluation techniques.

Each student will show the following first aid bandaging techniques as part of their practical exam: impaled object, laceration, head wound, knuckle, frostbite, anatomical and rigid splinting.

Homework 25%-Homework assignments will be given to reinforce or review information taught in class. Check my website if you are unsure about ANY assignment or due date.
