The meeting was called to order by Chair Bob Johnson at 10:00 a.m.
The September meeting minutes were approved as written.
New Business:
Recommendations to Commissioner: A motion was made by Nyle Zikmund, seconded by Jim Fisher to further allocate Fire Safety Account funds in FY12 and FY13 as follows:
$200,000 for Shared Services Grants
$400,000 in additional funds to the State Fire Marshal Division to fund the Hotel/Motel Inspection Program and Day Care Licensing Program and to sunset the current fees assessed to owner/operators of said facilities for these two programs.
$1,120,000 in additional funds to HSEM for the following:
$220,000 to each CAT/ERT Team ($20,000 per team)
$500,000 to Task Force 1 for training and operation
$400,000 for the Decontamination Program
All remaining funds in the Fire Safety Account (approximately $2.7 million) to the Minnesota Board of Fire Training and Education for firefighter training.
The motion was approved unanimously by the Fire Service Advisory Committee. Chair Bob Johnson will request a meeting with the Commissioner to discuss the recommendations and Committee Members representing the major fire service groups and local city officials will attend.
