Job Title:Community Advice Worker

Location:Across Lime Tree, Cherry Tree & Birchfield Children’s Centers

Salary: £17,000 - £19,500

Job Purpose:

To engage with parents across the targeted areas, establish relationships and encourage participation in Children’s Centre activities. To conduct initial assessments and support parents to develop achievable action plans. Signpost to internal and external services as required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

To work across the three Children’s Centersand various outreach facilities as required

Market effectively the activities and services available at the Children’s Centers

Meet or exceed targets for engagement of new parents in regards to volume and eligibility

Establish and maintain relationships with referral organisation including local community outreach organisations, schools and their partners

Perform initial needs assessment to establish which services will need to be accessed. (Health, debt, benefits, employment & training)

Develop an achievable action plan for each client ensuring short and long term goals are set and monitored

Offer parent consultation and deliver advice and guidance to parents through one-to-one appointments or group sessions

To build and manage a database of local services and providers to ensure clients are signposted effectively

To signpost parents to appropriate services and monitor progress

Track clients to obtain details of progression and mapping of client journey

Complete and update paperwork and client records in order to meet organisational needs and contractual compliance obligations

Contribute effectively to the FInDA Employment & Training Teams mainstream activity within relevant areas

Provide up to date information to management regarding parent engagement and present this information in a format that meets organisational and compliance requirements

Assisting in the planning and organising of engagement events ensuring all events are marketed effectively

Contribute effectively during team meetings to offer support and guidance to team members.

Special Conditions:

The duties of the position will be carried out on such days and at such times as may be most effective in respect of the task in hand. This will inevitably require working during the evenings, weekends and over Bank Holidays.

Required to have own transport available for which an appropriate petrol allowance will be paid

Qualifications / Level 2 – 3 Qualification in IAG or equivalent / Desirable / A
Experience /
  • Marketing and networking services to provide adequate levels of referrals
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with outreach organisations, partner providers and referral agencies
  • Pre screening candidates in regards to eligibility and suitability for service provision
  • Delivering Information Advice & Guidance to Matrix standards including Employment Support, Further Education & other support services
  • Conducting rigorous Initial Assessments to facilitate adequate action planning
  • Signposting to internal and external services
  • Capture of relevant evidence and the completion of documentation in line with funding compliance
  • The planning and organisation of engament events
  • Producing and cascading, accurate data in regards to performance
