BACKGROUND

A key part of the international structure in the United Bible Societies is the Financial & Operational Services unit. This unit is dedicated to provide the members of the Fellowship with financial and other requested services enabling them to fulfil their mission.

The services will be mainly dealing with the transfer of international funds, including the treasury aspects of it, the pre financing of Bible productions, administering of loans and capital investments, while also taking care for the financial processes of the new international service unit in order to produce managerial and statutory accounts. This should all lead to annually unqualified audited financial reports.

JOB SUMMARY

This is role involves supporting the UK Finance team with the regular bookkeeping and transaction processes during which the team is also dealing with the the year end and audit process as well as the transition into developing a new finance system that requires redeveloping processes and procedures.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

●Reviewing, correcting and entering General Ledger journal entries in the present Epicor system, using multiple currencies.

●Reconciling bank accounts (multiple currencies)

●Preparing payment proposals for international and national payments.

●Setting up payments in the online banking system

●Any other duty as required by the line manager

Personal Qualities

●Comfortable working in a Christian organisation with sensitivity to the breadth of church support that UBS enjoys

●Good verbal and written communication skills to diverse audiences.

●An ability to work collaboratively, a good listener, with a capacity to present information in a clear way.

Essential Experiences and Skills:

●An excellent book-keeper with at least three years experience of using double-entry systems

●Fluent in written and spoken English

●Competent in Excel

●Knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to use available IT and communications tools in the context of a dispersed staff team

Desirable Experiences and Skills

●Educated to a tertiary level, preferably with a AAT qualification

●Experience of using Epicor and/or PS Financials software packages

●Multi-liguistic

●International and multi-cultural experience and understanding
