Fundraising & Development Officer (fixed term)

Reporting to: Head of Development & Operations

Responsible for: Fundraising volunteers

Hours: 21 per week, flexible, with core hours

Place of Work: Home-based with c 1 day/wk at Trellis office, Perth.

Context

Trellis is the national Scottish charity for therapeutic horticulture. We support over 240 therapeutic gardening projects nationwide, which in turn support more than 7000 people every week. We provide an Information Service, a Fieldwork Service, good practice exchange, training courses, a website and an annual conference, and we raise the profile of therapeutic horticulture with policy makers.

Job Purpose:

To support therapeutic gardening projects by:

1.  Raising funds and generating income to sustain our support services and new projects in development, bringing creative ideas to this work to meet and exceed targets.

2.  Developing partnerships to help fulfil Trellis’ aims.

Responsibilities and main tasks

Development work:

·  Develop and continue the fundraising work in collaboration with our small team to reach targets agreed at staff and board meetings. Target income streams include trusts, foundations, corporate supporters, statutory and legacy awards. Supporter development will be an intrinsic part of this role.

·  Recruit, train and support volunteers to support fundraising activities.

·  Contribute to Trellis social media and online content and activity and keep an up to date database of supporters and contact history.

·  Ensure Trellis fundraising activities reflect and keep pace with local and national changes/policies that affect our network.

·  Occasionally there may be a requirement to provide information and guidance to staff/volunteers at garden projects (office based and via site visits). Full training and & mentoring will be given in this area.

·  Provide material for website, database, board/funder reports and publications as appropriate.

General duties:

·  Work effectively and considerately with other employees and volunteers to promote the aims and objectives of Trellis and present a positive image to members and the public

·  Take responsibility for your own safety and ensure that colleagues and visitors are not exposed to danger

·  Abide by Trellis policies and endeavour to follow good working practice at all times

·  Undertake appropriate training as agreed with your line manager

·  Undertake such other duties as requested by your line manager which may be necessary to ensure the continuing and effective operation of Trellis or the needs of projects.

Summary information:

Salary: £21,000, pro rata

Pension: Optional contributory pension scheme

Holiday: 25 days annual leave, plus 10 public holidays, pro rata

Location: This post will be home-based with approximately one day a week working at Trellis’ office (Perth). There may be occasional travel within Scotland.

Hours: Part time, 3 days/week.

Contract: Fixed Term for 12 months (with possible extension depending on funding)

Support: Regular supervision sessions and an annual appraisal with your line manager to ensure progress towards objectives.
