Job Description

Job Purpose
To lead on the development of innovative, accurate, timely and consistent management information across a wide range of University departments, for use by stakeholders at different levels across the Institution (including senior University and Finance Office management, Heads of Department, Departmental administrators, responsible Heads of Finance and Finance contact officers), in order to aid planning, control and decision-making, especially in the deployment of University resources.
Duties and Responsibilities
Based in the University's Finance Office your responsibilities will include:
1.To pro-actively lead in the design and development of the efficient and effective management information processes and reports for a wide range of University departments and service areas (or subsets thereof), in support of the work of Heads of Finance, their teams and departments.

2. To develop standardised, automated and effective ways of working with financial reporting systems, including SAP, across a wide range of University departments and service areas (or subsets thereof), with the aim of improving the speed and effectiveness in production and transfer of information in to and out of these systems to meet financial reporting needs.

3.To provide guidance and support to the management accounting teams for the Finance Office, ensuring that their ways of working deliver a customer-focused, valuable, efficient and professional service to University departments and support service areas that is strategically fit for purpose and facilitates the meeting of objectives.

4.To work with other management information providers within the Finance Office, and wider, to continually raise reporting standards, to ensure the production of excellent management accounting information through a programme of continuous process review; ensuring consistency and efficiency of working to achieve information which is customer focussed and meets University needs for internal and external reporting.

5.To work with process fix recommendation/Simplify Collaborate Deliver (“SCD”) project owners to implement and subsequently embed findings of relevant process fix/SCD workshops.

6.Ensuring ongoing quality provision by establishing and obtaining approval for appropriate benchmarks and key performance indicators, and monitoring and reporting performance against these.

7.Engagement with the SAP Systems and COGNOS support teams, alongside relevant Deputy Finance Director and Heads of Finance, to ensure the provision of high quality management information.

8.Ad Hoc work as directed by Deputy Finance Director
