Final Year Project Presentation and Submission Guidelines

PART 1

EPT4046 Section EM401

The FYP presentations by Part 1 students shall be held on Week 13 & 14 (16 - 20January 2014). You can check the presentation slot online starting from Week 12. There should be no written report to be submitted for Part 1 students. However, supervisors may request progress reports to be submitted to them.

PART 2

EPT4046 Section EM402

The FYP presentations by Part 2 students shall be held on Week 13 & 14 (16-20January 2014). You can check the presentation slot online starting from Week 12.

For Part 2 students, please submit the followings at the faculty office.

a.Before presentation –

  1. Submissions of soft-cover report (2 copies). *The soft-cover can be collected from FET office starting from today, 13 December 2013 (Friday). The deadline to submit the report is on 06January 2014 (Monday) failing which 5 marks will be deducted per day for submission after the deadline.
  1. Plagiarism Check - Students are required to submit their report to Turnitin.com (at and submit the generated originality report and the Similarity Index Form to the supervisor for endorsement. Both these documents aretobesubmittedseparately with the softcover report by 06 January 2014 (Monday). Please refer to FYP Portal ( for further instruction on Plagiarism check and sample of originality report from Turnitin.

b. After presentation- Submission of hard cover final report (1 copy) and softcopy of final report (1 copy in CD). *The softcopy must consist of all of the student's written report/charts/programmes/etc. The hardcover report must be submitted at faculty office by completing the FYP Report Submission Form. The form must be signed by both the supervisor and the moderator. The deadline to submit the report is 2 weeks after last day of presentation sessions, by 04February2014 (Tuesday).

Students must submit all of the above items even though they are doing a group project.

Students' reports CANNOT be identical with each other.

Please discuss with your supervisors on this matter.

No extension of deadline shall be allowed.

You are encouraged to see your supervisors more often to speed up your projects.

Attendance to Presentation:

Besides his/her own presentation, every student must attend to at least another 2 other students' presentations. For example, for a student doing Part 1, he/she must attend part 1 presentation of two course mates, and if a student is doing part 2, he/she must do likewise for the part 2 presentations. Please get the Attendance Confirmation Form from the FET website ( to the presentation day. The completed form must be returned to Faculty office together with the FYP Submission Form (for Part 2) and for Part 1 student, it must be returned right after the presentation.

All presentations will be done in FET labs and meeting room. A computer (with internet access) and a projector will be provided for each presentation. If you have any special request (specific labs/software/hardware etc.), please fill in the Request Form which can be obtained from the FET website at least one week before the presentation day. Any late request will not be entertained. Please get a recommendation from your supervisor in order for your request to be entertained.
