Film & Photography Intern

Summary / Save the Children has a growing Film and Photography Team based in its London Headquarters. This post is an opportunity for a recent graduate or person interested in a career in communications of the third sector to gain invaluable experience by working within a large and busy film and photographic production team.
Description / This role will assist in the smooth running of the team by maintaining a series of mainly administrative tasks for an agreed period of three months. The role will be given some specific tasks designed to give experience of the process of producing content within their period of employment and we will offer the opportunity to work alongside our team on one major project.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Logging, shot-listing and transcribing footage
  • Maintaining good paperwork filing systems
  • Maintaining good photographic content filing systems
  • Assisting on shoot production with tasks such as flight booking, visa applications, carnet applications, permit applications etc.
  • Assisting with the running of the multimedia library.
  • Take on a variety of roles as required to assist the Film and Photography team.
Person Specification:
Essential
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft outlook, excel and word programmes
  • Enthusiasm and interest in the process of film and photography production within the NGO sector
  • Enthusiasm and interest in the NGO sector
  • Experience of using photographic and video equipment
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and team-work skills

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of Photoshop
  • Working knowledge of Avid
  • Working knowledge of Lightroom

Commitment / We are looking for someone who is available for 2 days per week, for a period of 3 months.
Resources / You will be supplied with a temporary Save the Children email account for official communication, and also access to the IT systems and software necessary to complete the work.
You will have access to talks at Save the Children on international development.

External: freelance film makers, photographers and editors

Would I receive any training?
You will receive basic training in the IT programmes needed for the above accountabilities.
Would I receive any expenses?
Reasonable travel and lunch expenses will be reimbursed.
Who would my main point of contact be?
You will report to the Multimedia Content Officer but will work closely with other members of the Photography and Film team, particularly the Head of Film & Photography.
How much experience of Microsoft packages would be needed?
We would ask that you have a working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
