Billy Chan Hired to Direct Growth

Billy Chan, a seasoned trademark attorney, will direct the firm’s expansion in these areas. Chan is being joined by Rhean Fajardo, who brings extensive technology and trademark expertise, plus a team of attorneys, technical writers and legal interns. Chan will direct Fernandez & Associates’ new licensing, transactional and trademark practice. Bringing expertise in trademark clearance, registration and enforcement, Chan will counsel clients in the areas of core brand development and protection. His transactional experience covers a wide span of agreements, having served as counsel on both sides of development, purchase, sale, license-in, license-out and cross-license arrangements involving the advance or transfer of technology.
Chan currently serves as a director on the board of the Asian American Bar Association and is the Northern California regional governor for the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. Most recently he served as president of the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California. Chan graduated with honors from University of California
Los Angeles and obtained a J.D. degree from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall.

Rhean Fajardo
Fajardo will serve as a trademark team member. Fajardo earned a J.D. degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law and a certificate in intellectual property and cyber law. She most recently served as general counsel for a late stage startup with responsibilities for strategic development and selection of technology, plus oversight of trademark portfolio clearance, registration and enforcement.
