Fellowships: (PacNOG 6)

Through the kind support of the Internet Society (ISOC), fellowships will be made available to qualified applicants from the members of the Pacific network and internet operators’ community wishing to attend the PacNOG 6 educational workshop and training, to be held in Nadi, FIJI 16-26 November 2009.

Amounts awarded and the number of recipients will be limited.

Therefore the guideline for prioritising the awarding of fellowship assistance will be with developing technical and operational capacity and the critical skills for network operators in this region, receive training on operational issues and needs, and develop networking amongst peers and instructors on operational matters and issues. Awarding fellowships will be based on the following priority:

  1. Applicants must be technical personnel and employed with a network operator, at national, institutional or government level or other networks of public or community services
  2. Applications from new start up networks of1 & 2 above or similar can also be accepted
  3. Applicants must be from a Pacific Island country, state or territory. Priority will be to the countries of Least Developed or Developing country.
  4. Applications considered under Special cases can be for the purpose of developing training assistants or new potentials to become technical resource person for PacNOG and for the region

Applicants will need to contribute to their costs as fellowships willbe partial only, covering registration fees and either accommodation orair fare in full or partialdepending on case by case.

Note: PacNOG educational workshops and training focus on network operation issues and needs, and are very technical and hands-on in nature.
