DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
NATURE
This award consists of an appropriate citation and memento. Allowance may be provided for travel expenses to the meeting at which the Award is made.
PURPOSE OF AWARD
To recognise ongoing distinguished service and contribution to the Dairy Industry, support over a long period, above the normal line of duty.
RECIPIENTS
The Distinguished Service Award may be awarded to one or more individuals each year. As a guide to the areas for which the Award may be made the following examples are suggested:
a)Leadership and promotion of quality in dairy products
b)Contribution to research of benefit to the dairy industry
c)Managerial ability in a dairy venture
d)Development of leadership of people in the industry
e)Leadership in the organisation of national and/or international dairy organisations
f)Promotion of legislation of benefit to the industry
g)Development and/or dissemination of information to the public related to the dairy industry
h)Promotion of the sale of dairy products
i)Promotion of education in the dairy industry
j)Development or promotion of efficient farm practices related to dairy production
k)Development of a dairy product or a process which promotes the increased or diversified use of milk
l)Leadership in nutrition education relating to milk or milk products
m)Development of inventions, equipment or mechanical procedures in the dairy industry for either the production or manufacturing field
n)Contribution to Industrial Relations
ELIGIBILITY FOR NOMINATION
Nominee:
May be a member or non-member of NZIFST
May be active in his/her field of endeavour or may be retired
NOMINATIONS FOR THE AWARD
a)Nominations may be made by any interested party
b)Nominations are to be sent to the Awards Officer not later than three months prior to the presentation of the Award
c)The nomination should have a resume attached, prepared in co-operation with the nominee
d)In order to ensure that no distinguished candidate is overlooked, nominations will be invited by: advertisement in NZIFST and New Zealand Dairy Industry journals, on the NZIFST web-site, in circulars to Branch Secretaries/Chairpersons and other forms of communication
e)Nominations are to automatically stand for three years consideration after which period a nominee must be renominated.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The Awards Selection Committee shall make their selection from those nominees who have had a completed nomination forwarded for them. The decision will be based on the following:
a)The contribution the nominee has made to the industry and the benefits the industry has gained from the work of the nominee
b)The involvement with the NZIFST or previously with DIANZ should be considered in the event of two equal candidates.
c)The nominator shall have the right to address the Awards Selection Committee
