Fellowships for Graduate Study and/or Research in
Germany
2017-2018
Study Scholarships and Research Grantswill be offered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for University of California, Berkeley undergraduate seniors, graduate students and post-doctoral researchers to undertake up to 10 months of study and/or research in Germany during the 2017-2018 academic year.
Eligibility:
- In general, applicants must be US or Canadian citizens. Foreign nationals who have been in a full-time degree program at a university in the US or Canada for at least one year by the time of application deadline are also eligible.All foreign nationals must contact DAAD New York before applying to determine eligibility.
- Applicants in all academic fields are welcome to apply.For study in the fields of dentistry, medicine, pharmacy, or veterinary medicine, contact DAAD for special guidelines.
- Students in arts, humanities and social sciences should have a good command of German.

Applicants should have well-defined research projects for which study in Germany is essential, and should be well prepared to carry out these intended activities. Preference will be given to applicants who have been invited by a faculty member at a German university to study or conduct research in a particular department, institute or laboratory. Applicants must also possess knowledge of German commensurate with their proposed projects.
Monthly stipends range from approximately €750 - €1000. In addition, DAAD will cover health insurance and a flat rate subsidy for travel costs.The rate is determined by DAAD.
