Purpose:To highlight the work of Meir Panim through community wide participation in vocal and art competitions for grades 6-12.

Call for Entries: All students grades 6-12 are invited to submit entries showcasing their talent, either vocal or artistic, by October 1. The qualifying entry does not have to be on the contest theme - it will be judged for artistic merit only, in order to narrow down the competition to a group of semifinalists in each category.

Musical Category: All candidates are to submit one song of their choice on an informal CD (not studio quality) by October 1. Judges from the school community will narrow the submissions down to semi-finalists.

Semi-finals will be held on Sunday, November 18 at Beth Tfiloh in Baltimore. A celebrity panel of judges will determine which of the seven applicants will be invited to participate in the finals at the February 10th concert.

Then; together with a professional coach of their choice, (if they do not have a music coach, one will be supplied at no cost) they will compose an original song of not more than 3 minutes in length on the mitzvah of feeding the hungry.

At the concert, all finalists will sing one song together and then their individual original piece. A panel of celebrity judges and the audience will vote to select the top three winners who will win the top prizes; however all finalists will receive a gift.

All students who audition that are not selected to be a finalist will be invited to participate in the concert and will receive 1 free ticket to the event. All participants will sing one song collectively on stage.

Art Category: Art applicants will submit 3 photographs of their best work by October 1. Judges from the school community will narrow the submissions down. Once this decision has been made, all selected artists will create a piece of artwork no larger than 11” x 17” revolving around the theme of what feeding the hungry means to them.

All artwork will be displayed at the concert and a panel of celebrity judges and the audience will select the top three winners. All three will receive prizes and the winning piece will be displayed in the lobby of the new MeirPanimIsraelNutritionCenter at Kiryat Gat. Additionally, provided the artist approves, their work will be for sale that evening.

Applications will be available online at and other social media on June 1, 2012
