Minutes of Quarterly Meeting January 26, 2009

“Women Standing Strong and Working Together

Make a Difference!”

The January quarterly meeting was held at the H.E.S.S. Club located at 5430 Westheimer in Houston, Texas77056. The meeting was called to order at 6:40 PM by President Pat Davion. Pat welcomed and thanked everyone for attending and stated the new vision and mission for the Federation of Houston Professional Woman. “Women Standing Strong and Working Together Make a Difference!”

President Pat Davion then introduced the 2009FHPW Executive Board:

Awards Gala Director, Bee Franks-Walker

Education Foundation: Vie Mixon, Christina Robinson-Grochett, Dyane Magliolo, Nancy Williams, Caroline Smith, Pat Davion, Beth Caplan and Vicky Reynolds.

Vie Mixon announced the outgoing Foundation and presented Sheri Parrack with an appreciation gift. Vie Mixon advised the applications for the scholarship deadline is May 15, 2009.

Pat then announced the Advisory Council Chair: Sheri Parrack. Sheri announced the five other past presidents who will be on the Advisory Council: Connie Smith, Judy Carlini, Kay King, Vicky Reynolds and Myrleen Knott. All FHPW Advisory Council consists of past FHPW Presidents. They will be presiding over the July 2009 Quarterly meeting, and presenting the 2009 Woman of Excellence.

The October Quarterly Minutes were posted on-line and Pat asked if there were any corrections. No corrections were requested so the October Minutes were approved as published.

The Financial Report has been approved by the Board and filed for audit.

Bee Franks-Walker gave the Gala Director Report.The Gala will be held September 19 with the Tea held on September 13, 2009. Bee mentioned the five forms handed out to request volunteers for the gala asking for your name, phone number and email address.

Kim Gebron, Education Director gave a quick report and asked all in attendance to mentally remember four weeks from tonight will be an evening of networking and education, February 23.

Yvette Bryars, Data Base Director requested that everyone make sure their contact information is correct. She laid a card on each table for updates to be written on and returned to her.

Carol Shepherd, Reservations Director then took the podium and strongly requested that each person make their reservations on time and advised there is an extra fee from the club if additional settings are made late, so PLEASE make your reservations early.

Kay King, Travel Director then spoke about the upcoming planned trip to Stockholm, Sweden. There are one-two places still available with the deadline being February 15, 2009. There are 20 members signed up so far.

Pat Davion read the vision of FHPW, and tied it in with her theme focus on empowering women to stand strong and working together will make a difference.

Sheri Parrack introduced the program. How FHPW helped members reach their goals.

Kay King spoke on the leadership and history of FHPW and The Classy Clown program.

Vie Mixon introduced the second speaker for the night: Vicky Reynolds, owner Customized Concepts. Vicky announced she established her business 7 years ago with the support and leadership of Sheri Parrack, Pat Yokubaitis and Myrleen Knott. Then proceeded to tell her personal story of how FHPW changed her life. “Your success comes from Teamwork”!

Vie Mixon then introduced the last speaker Kim McCully of Computer Moms. Kim then told her success story of how she was supported, encouraged and is now a successful business owner.

All three speaker’s story were very encouraging, inspiring and gave allin attendance courage to live our dreams! Thank you ladies for so much inspiration and encouragement to the women of FHPW!

Sheri Parrack presented each speaker with a gift and asked if there were any questions from the audience.

The quarterly FHPW April meeting speaker will be Beverly Denver of Houston Woman Magazine.

Pat Davion announced that Elysce Garrison is having very difficult health problems and requested that cards and prayers be sent to her.

Nancy Williams then proceeded to award the many Door Prizes available.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 PM.
