FEDERAL WAY INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT

January 13-14, 2017

Federal Way High School, 30611 16th Ave South, Federal Way, WA 98003

December, 2016

Dear Coach,

You are cordially invited to attend the Federal Way Invitational Speech & Debate Tournament on January 13-14, 2017. We are very excited to be hosting our tournament back at Federal Way High School in our new building. We are offering Policy Debate, Congressional Debate and IE’s in open division, with LD Debate and Public Forum in both open and junior division.
We are a TOC Qualifier in LD Debate. OPEN LD rounds on Saturday will run on a separate schedule which will also conflict with IE’s. The January-February topic will be used in LD, and Public Forum will use the January topic. Please check the schedule, as we are running all IE’s in one pattern. Students may enter up to two IE’s. There will be forms on the classroom doors for the students that are doubled entered to sign in on, so the judges are aware. We are a qualifying bid for NIETOC in Oratory, Duo, Humorous, and Dramatic Interp. A reminder, Congress will be using the second packet of Washington legislation at the tournament. We are adhering to the WSFA rules, with state rules applying in all events. Trophies will be given to the first three places in each event and finalists will also receive awards.

Your registration is due on Wednesday, January 11th by 6:00 pm. Tournament fees are set at that time. Registration will be online at TABROOM.COM . Drops after the deadline will not be deducted from the entry fee, nor will adds be made. It is vital that any drops are made prior to the tournament if possible. Last minute changes are what make the tournaments fall behind schedule! If you have any questions/concerns the best way to contact me is by cell 253-988-7649 or at .

Looking forward to seeing you in January!

As Always,

Lois Gorne

LD judges cannot do IE’s since they conflict.

One judge and one parliamentarian are required for each school entering Student Congress participants.

Your school is required to provide judges for the events your studentsare entered. If you enter CX, you must bring CX judges, LD an LD judge, Public Forum, IE’s etc. Indicate which event they are covering on your registration. ALL JUDGES ARE REQUIRED TO CHECK IN AT REGISTRATION, BOTH DAYS OF THE TOURNAMENT.

Please make sure you have judges to cover your entries. I DO NOT want to drop your students for lack of your required judges! We have a tight schedule and in order for the tournament to run smoothly and on time, we need everyone’s cooperation.

SUPERVISION:

The WIAA/WSFA requires that a certified coach/staff member from each school or school district supervise the competitors at all times.
