Federal Procurement Conference 2009

Washington, D.C. – (July 7, 2009), Minority Enterprise Executive Council will host the Federal Procurement Conference 2009 on October 16, 2009 at the Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C. from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Co-sponsors include Minority Enterprise Advocate Magazine (MEA Magazine); Contract Infinity Group (CIG); Signature Management Group (SMGI); and Information Systems Security Solutions (IS3).

Our keynote speaker is Ms. Gloria Parker, CEO, Parker Group Consulting. Her topic: The Future of Technology. Ms. Parker served on the Obama-Biden Transition team in 2008-2009. She was formerly the CTO and CIO for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as well as the Deputy CIO for U.S. Department of Education. She was a charter member of the Federal CIO Council and former Co-chair for IT Workforce Committee of the Federal CIO Council.

There will be a special recognition for the Prime Contractor of the Year 2009.

This event will feature some of the most renowned Government Officials including experts in the field of government contracting. There will be several informative workshops and seminars. Participants in this event will receive a wealth of knowledge on how to become a successful federal contractor. There will be information shared on how to register and do business with the federal government. The 8(a) certification process and the use of GSA schedule contracts will be discussed but more importantly, this conference will focus on ways of positioning your company to receive economic stimulus contracts.

The Federal government has a goal of awarding 23% of contract dollars to small businesses each year; federal agencies are mandated by law to award 5% of prime contracts to women-owned business; 5% to certified 8(a) firms; and 3% to HUBZone and service disabled-veteran owned businesses. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 was signed into law by President Obama on February 17, 2009 which resulted in a $787 billion economic stimulus package for the purpose of stimulating the economy and creating jobs. Federal agencies will receive a good portion of the money. Based on the availability of federal money, the time is ripe for small businesses to start selling to the government and there is no greater time to do business with the federal government.

If you are interested in exhibiting, register now, exhibit space is limited. Individual seats are $250, which includes lunch. Call (703) 730-4091 if you have any questions.

This in an event that you cannot afford to miss!
