Position Description

Head Coach, Victorian Under 18 Representative Team

Summary

Head Coaches are responsible for steering the development of squads and players of representative teams in the period leading up to a major event. This role includes selecting, preparing and training teams for championships and other competitions that forms part of a development process into these competitions. The squad development role in the months prior to the representative event is an important part of the elite development pathway into national teams.

Head Coaches are appointed by the Ultimate Victoria board after consideration by an appointment panel and their appointment is specific to a particular event.

Typically one Head Coach is appointed per team; assistant coaches and other essential support personnel are recruited and appointed as deemed appropriate by the Head Coach, in consultation with the Development Officer and Ultimate Victoria board. When a Head Coach is engaged for a team, it is expected that they will be added as a selector for that team and fulfil the selector role in addition to their coaching duties. This is an essential non-playing role and the coach cannot be a player on the team.

Ultimate Victoria is seeking coaches for two under 18 representative teams to:

  • Drive the development of players in the squad, with a view to increasing the depth of the selection pool
  • Plan the on-field and team development components of the program
  • Collaborate with the leadership of the selected Team in preparing the players for the tournament and providing on-field direction
  • With the UV Development Officer, co-ordinate the work of a non-playing support team, potentially including assistant coach, manager, selectors and others as required.
  • Work with the Ultimate Victoria Development Officer and other support staff to plan and deliver the team program.

This is a voluntary role which reports to the Ultimate Victoria Development Officer.
