  • Protocol Rollout- BC Randall
  • Train the Trainer completed on Nov 10 & 13
  • Skill sessions are available after 11/20 as the training boxes become available
  • Knox box keys have not been completed yet but should be soon.
  • BLS Drug boxes are in the process of being completed, information will be provided to the companies so they can order the appropriate box.
  • BLS drugs will be exchanged 1:1 as used.
  • The pharmacy and BC Randall are preparing for the drug exchanges for when the protocols go live to prevent any issues.
  • As of right now everything is on track to be ready to go on January 2.
  • Training
  • 37 trainers came through the protocol roll out train the trainer sessions. We have received a lot of positive feedback on the sessions.
  • Please email Lt. Shields about reserving training boxes for your department’s skill sessions.
  • Approximately 170 providers have completed the online training portion of the skills as of this time.
  • Lt. Shields will compile a list of the trainers available and their level so if any stations have a level that their trainer cannot handle they can locate another trainer.
  • Amissville has a skills session on Nov. 29, more information will follow.
  • Any provider that chooses not to complete the protocol roll out will no longer be an active provider as of Jan 2 at 1800.
  • Protocol Books
  • Digital copies of the protocols on the laptops does meet the OEMS requirement of having the protocols on the units.
  • Discussed paper copies of the protocols, Chief Kight is going to attempt to print copies for stations.
  • Digital copies have been updated some to fix broken links and those are available on the web site.
  • Email Chief Kight with the list of EMS licensed units that need protocol books.
  • Grants
  • The committee is gathering information to work with Vickers.
  • The deadline is 12/5 for this round of grants. All information will need to be presented at the FRA meeting on 11/20.

  • Ebola Update
  • Every unit in Fauquier County has a PPE kit and there will be an online update for information on these kits.
  • Roundtable
  • Please remind members that if they have questions about the meetings they need to contact their representatives or access the notes on the fauquierfirerescue.org web site.
  • New Business
  • Per OEMS, if any provider performs a procedure that is in the protocols we no longer require a doctor’s signature. We will follow up with Dr. Jenks to see how he wants the protocol handled.
  • Chief Monaco inquired about recommended thermometers for the ambulances. The recommended thermometer, which is no touch, costs approximately $270 and is on back order. Temporal thermometers can be used as well and are a cheaper option.
  • The last CPR class of the year will be in December at Remington, more information will be available.
  • Next year’s CPR classes will be put on the web site as soon as they are available.
