FASSET FUNDED RECRUITMENT OF HIGH POTENTIAL HDI’s!

On the 30th January 2006, 40 enthusiastic learners started their training on the workplace readiness programme which is a part of a Fasset initiative to recruit, assess and train up unemployed graduates* in readiness for the workplace i.e. the Fasset Workplace Readiness Programme. The project managed by The Skills Framework aimed at preparing learners for level 5 learnerships / internships in non financial areas such as administration, human resources and marketing.

The training programme was called “The Incredible Journey” and was modelled on television reality shows such as “The Amazing Race’ and “The Apprentice”. Some of the learning activities included a personal journal where the learners documented their “Incredible Journey” and a host of other individual and groups activities including an external treasure hunt. These learners completed the six week workplace readiness training at the end of March 2006.

This drive by FASSET is a result of an identified need within organisations under the FASSET

banner for internships / learnerships that are NON FINANCE related. The workplace readiness training has resulted in capacity built graduates, the aim being to allow easy entry by the learner into the work environment and also to equip the learner to handle day-to-day business functions, with practical skills. The internships / learnerships may be within Employers support services such as office administration, IT, project management, call centre, secretarial, marketing and customer service.

BENEFITS OF IMPLEMENTING INTERNSHIPS / LEARNERSHIPS

Employers participating on this project will receive the following FREE of charge!

√Recruited HDI graduate learner

√Extensive recruitment and selection procedure involving psychometric assessment

√Learner induction to the workplace through workplace readiness training for 35 days

√Internship / Learnership and learner support after placement

Should the employer offer a learnership they will also receive a:

√Tax rebate at the start and end of a learnership of up to a total of R60 000

Learnerships by definition involve structured training and experiential learning that ultimately leads to professional competence and require the employer organisation, the learner and the training service provider to enter into a contract, specifying the scope and the outcomes of the learnership. Internships allow for workplace based training without the additional requirements of a structured qualification and will also involve a contract between the employer and learner.

Interested employers should contact The Skills Framework (TSF), and speak to Tracy Hammond on 083 656 5065 or the office on (011) 442-0162.

* Graduates can include learners with degrees or diplomas.
