Farrell set for debut in A-League clash

Andy Farrell is set to make his Saracens debut in the Guinness A-League match against NEC Harlequins at Imber Court on Monday night.

Speaking following Saracens 13-13 draw against Bristol on Sunday, Director of Rugby Alan Gaffney revealed that Farrell is in the squad for the game on Monday night and following the team run tomorrow afternoon, is likely to be named in the team for the game.

Gaffney said: "Andy is in the squad for the game and that will be pared down on Monday but all things being equal, he'll be given a run out on Monday night. He's fought very hard to get back to where he is and there will be a strong chance he could be included in the 22 for the game against Newcastle - we'll just see how he goes and how he recovers. We're not going to be silly or take any risks with him."

Kick off is 7.30pm with admission to the game costing £5

Saracens Club Partnership Coach Education 06/07

As part of the Club Partnership Programme numerous opportunities are available throughout the season for coach education. Various Open days to the training ground are organised in addition to a selection of 'Coach the Coaches' session.

The first opportunity of the new season for coaches from our partner clubs to watch the players train and visit the training facilities of Saracens as part of an "Open Day" was the week leading up to the London Double Header.

Around 30 coaches were in attendance as they were privileged to receive a guided tour followed by watching the whole squad being put through their paces during a conditioning and unit skills session. The session incorporated conditioning with preparation work for the London Double Head against Wasp.

It was a great opportunity for coaches in attendance to pick up some new ideas for drills and technical tips for their players. Some game ideas moves and patterns of play were also observed. In conclusion to the session therewas an opportunity for the coaches to question Director of Rugby Alan Gaffney, backs coach Richard Graham and forwards coach Adrian Kennedy. Some interesting topics were discussed and some excellent feedback was given to those in attendance.

Saracens share the spoils at Bristol

Two late drop goals by Dan Scarbrough and Glen Jackson looked to have secured the points for Saracens at Bristol, but a Shaun Perry try with the final action of the game saw the match end in a 13-13 draw.

With just two minutes left on the clock and Saracens holding a five point lead, a penalty allowed Jason Strange to kick deep into the corner. And, as had been the case for Bristol’s other score, a rolling maul proved to be the right tactic and Perry touched down.

Strange had a tricky touchline conversion to win the match, but it drifted wide to give both sides two league points after a match which was littered with mistakes and knock-ons from both sides.

Dan Scarbrough had given Saracens the lead with an early score and although a Strange penalty and Darren Crompton try had given Bristol the lead, Scarbrough then struck a drop goal from 45 metres and Jackson followed it up minute later with another kick.

But Saracens were unable to hold on for the win. Click here for the full report
