Enhanced cost-efficiency with new helical gear unit

R127 helical gear unit closes torque ratio gap in upper power range

Bruchsal, Hannover Messe 2017: The new R127 helical gear unit from SEW-EURODRIVE closes the torque ratio gap between the existing R107 and R137 sizes. The new size can be combined with motors, adapters or input covers as usual, depending on the application’s requirements. When configured as a gearmotor, the R127 can utilize its maximum torque of up to 6000 Nm to the full with AC motors in energy efficiency classes IE1 to IE3 or in conjunction with synchronous servomotors.

The new R127 helical gear unit from SEW-EURODRIVE made its trade show debut at Hannover Messe 2017. Customers have been able to order the new gear unit for their machinery and systems since January 2017. The R127 helical gear unit complements the series in the upper power range, with maximum permitted torques of up to 6000 Nm, and closes a torque gap between the existing R107 and R137 sizes.

A total of 35 finely stepped ratios ranging from i = 5.55 to i = 262.65 can be offered in a two-stage or three-stage design. When used as a compound gear unit with an upstream R77 helical gear unit, ratios as high as i = 20936 can be achieved with up to six helical gear stages. At an input speed of 1400 min-1, output shaft speeds of 0.07 to 252 min-1 can be achieved for every conceivable drive task.

The R127 helical gear unit can be configured with an input cover with exposed shaft extension, with adapters for mounting standard motors or as a gearmotor. AM.. adapters for mounting standard IEC and NEMA motors ensure quick and easy motor assembly/disassembly, while AQA.. and AQH.. motor adapters can be used to mount all standard synchronous servomotors. One particularly space-saving solution is combining the R127 with a directly mounted driving motor. Standard DRN.. asynchronous motors (efficiency class IE3) and CMP.. synchronousservomotors are ideal for this purpose.

Every application is different and every machine construction makes different demands on the drive technology used. Consequently, it is essential that the gear units can be configured with sufficient flexibility to meet drive application requirements to the full and ensure easy integration into the system design. In addition to a foot-mounted version, a flange-mounted version is therefore also available. Another option is a design with extended flange shaft and reinforced output shaft bearing for the particularly high overhung loads that can occur, for example, in mixers or agitators. Users thus benefit from the wide variety of designs and gear ratios they have come to expect from SEW-EURODRIVE, for efficient application in virtually any drive task. The R127 is up to 12% morecost-efficient than neighboring gear unit sizes, and a torque reserve up to 40% higher ensures it is more reliable, even in unforeseeable situations. The two/three-stage helical gear units are now available in a total of 15 sizes with a maximum output torque of 50 Nm to 18000 Nm. Virtually no other manufacturer offers such a large selection of helical gear units.

As usual with SEW-EURODRIVE, the new size can be ordered and delivered worldwide becauseglobal availability and short delivery times are also the key benchmarks for the R127. A large number of local Drive Centers carry out assembly, repair, inspection and maintenance work, keeping distances to customers as short as possible.

Key features of the R127:

  • The R127 complements the modular system in the torque range up to Mamax = 6000 Nm
  • The R127 closes a relatively large torque ratio gap between the existing R107 and R137 sizes
  • Virtually no other manufacturer offers such a large selection of helical gear units
  • The usual wide variety of designs and available gear ratios
  • Up to 12% more cost-efficient/up to 40% more torque reserve than neighboring sizes
  • Available worldwide with short delivery times and local SEW service
  • Key technical data:
    Mamax = 6000 Nm
    Gear ratio of i = 5.55 to 262.65 (total of 35 ratios)
    Solid shaft 90 x 170 mm
    Flange diameter 450 mm
  • Compound gear unit possible in conjunction with R77  R127R77
    Gear ratios of up to i = 20936 (na = 0.07 min-1 with ne = 1400min-1) are then possible
