Farming Life Centre Walks Programme

April to June - 2017

A gentle afternoon walk, monthly on Thursdays from Meet at 1.15 for a 1.30-2.30pm walk , with the opportunity for refreshments and a good chat afterwards!

Our walks are short and 'Easy' but may involve some stiles or ascents/descents over a short distance. They have been chosen to ensure we are on good surfaces for walking whatever the weather, however, in the event of extreme weather conditions, please contact the Centre beforehand on 01298 85162 to confirm the walk is going ahead.

Please wear sturdy footwear and clothing to suit the weather conditions

April : CHURCH TOWN. - Thursday 13th April

Meet 1.15pm for a 1.30 pm start. Park on the roadside near St Helens Church in Church Town.

Church Town is a small village 4 miles from Matlock just off the A6, reached from the Bakewell side of the A6 following signs to Parish Church at 30mph signs entering Darley Dale.

The walk is a pleasant flat walk crossing towards Oker following the Derwent river and across the gated road.

Coffee and cakes at the Tall trees cafe within the Forest Garden centre.

May: Lea Gardens and Holloway - Thursday May 4th

Meet at 1.15pm for a 1.30pm start. Park in the car park at Lea Gardens.

The walk will be discovering the area around Lea Gardens including the outskirts of Holloway.

We will have refreshments after the walk at the Lea Gardens cafe , when there will also be the opportunity to walk around the beautiful azalea and rhododendrum gardens (small entrance fee) which should be in full bloom

June : Hartington - Thursday June 22nd

Meet at 1.15pm for a 1.30pm start. Park in the village in Church street opposite the Devonshire Arms where there is some street parking.

We will take a circular walk around Hartington taking in some of the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Some minor elevations

Coffee and cakes to conclude our walk at one of the local cafes (to be decided)
