Position: Family Ministries Pastor
Accountable To: Senior Pastor
Salaried/Hourly: Salaried/Exempt
Job Summary: The Family Ministries Pastor serves the church by directing all aspects of preschool, children’s, youth and family ministries in harmony with the doctrine, purpose, and vision of Calvary Baptist Church.
Expectations: The Family Ministries Pastor will support the ministry of Calvary Baptist Church by implementing the overall vision to preschoolers, children, and youth in an age-appropriate manner. The Family Ministries Pastor will represent the ministry of Calvary Baptist Church through a growing, Christ-like character, and commitment to Jesus as Savior and Lord.
Essential Functions
• Serve as an example of godliness, humility, and disciple-making.
• Develop and sustain ministry for 0-18 year olds that emphasizes the biblical priority of parents as the primary spiritual leaders of their children and the church as a source of support for those parents.
• Consistent with 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4, 1 Peter 4, and Romans 12: Build, train, encourage, and invest in the church members who serve 0-18 year olds and their families through creating and sustaining vibrant ministry teams.
• Lead on-going opportunities for volunteer recruitment, training and encouragement.
• Provide spiritual care to 0-18 year olds and families.
• Welcome, disciple, encourage, care for, and communicate with 0-18 year olds and their families.
• Arrange for follow-up and exploration of baptism with new believers in the family ministry.
• Be an active participant in a Bible Study.
• Direct and ensure that the 0-18 year old ministries provide at least the following weekly ministries with biblical faithfulness and ministry excellence:
• Preschool, Children’s and Youth Sunday Morning Bible Study
• Preschool and Children’s Church
• Wednesday Evening Activities
• Direct a limited number of intentional events to provide outreach to new people and further development of spiritual growth and relationships with existing 0-18 year olds. Events should be in harmony with the vision of Calvary Baptist Church. Examples include:
• Family Fun Nights
• Holiday Celebrations
• Vacation Bible School
• Children’s and Youth Camps
• Children’s and Youth Mission Trips
• Other Duties as Assigned
Requirements
Theological acumen and proven spiritual maturity
Minimum 2 years demonstrated children, preschool, or youth experience
Bachelor’s Degree- Preferably in Biblical Studies or Christian Education
